During this two day workshop, you will learn the role of physiotherapy and other manual approaches in preventing and treating dysfunctional scars, and the much broader potential effects of scar tissue. Attending this course will help you to look deeper in your assessments, and address scar tension and guarding as possible drivers of pain and dysfunction, ultimately treating your patients more effectively and achieving improved outcomes. Techniques are designed to be integrated into your existing practice.
This is a gentle course, with lots of evidence and lots of practical. The focus is on working with the body rather than breaking down or pushing through anything. Many categories of scars are covered, from laparoscopies to joint replacements and even episiotomies, with extra time for breast cancer treatment and cesarean sections. There will also be an overview of alectrotherapy modalities, and non-physiotherapy management options.
Please note burns scars and dry needling will not be covered.
This course is for healthcare professionals and will include relevant photos of scars on various parts of the body including the breast and groin regions. Conditions such as infection, bruising and swelling will also be depicted. By completing this registration form you acknowledge that you are aware and accept that you will be exposed to these medical photographs.
This course is open to male and female practitioners, and participants will be expected to practise treatment techniques on each other.
