  • 2026 Summer Studio in Classical Architecture: Application Form

The final deadline for submissions is Monday, February 23, 2026. All applicants will hear back via email within three weeks after the application deadline. If you have any questions about completing this form, please contact the ICAA at education@classicist.org.
  • Admissions Criteria

  • Applicants to the Summer Studio in Classical Architecture (SSCA) are evaluated in three areas. The admissions committee looks for the following:

    1. The personal statement should describe your interest in classical architecture as a contemporary design discipline and your motivation for participating in the program. If you are presently enrolled in an architecture or related design program, the statement should describe how you anticipate the SSCA will complement your ongoing academic studies and support your longer-term professional objectives. If your academic preparation is in an area other than design, it is important to incorporate into the statement what connections you see that bridge your current studies and professional pursuits with classical architecture.

    2. Letters of reference are an opportunity to have faculty and professional contacts illuminate your experiences, strengths and goals as they relate to participation in the program. It is essential that your reference letter is from a current or former faculty member.

    3. The purpose of the portfolio is to demonstrate your level of development through a variety of media and skills. The admissions committee recognizes that the purpose of the SSCA is to introduce classical architectural design and presumes most students have little to no experience in this area of design practice. The reviewers hope to see projects and other examples of completed work displayed in a concise format, carefully executed.

If your academic background is in design, your work examples should indicate an understanding of basic architectural concepts, graphic techniques and conventions. If your academic background is in a field other than architecture, the work may be non-architecture-related, but you are encouraged to include any personal design-related projects.

Work may include sketches and drawings in any media. All work should be the student's own. The student's individual contribution to any group or professional design project should be clearly delineated. All projects should include titles, the dates that the work was completed, the course title, and whether the work was done for academic, professional, or personal purposes.
