The Generator Makerspace is a combination of artist studios, classroom, and business incubator at the intersection of art, science, and technology. Generator provides the tools, expertise, education, and opportunity to create, collaborate, and turn ideas into reality.
Generator has eight unique shop spaces: Woodshop, Metal Shop, Jewelry Studio, Electronics Lab, Sewing Studio, Vinyl Cutting, Laser Cutting, and 3D Printing Lab!
Our membership is made up of small business owners, artists, engineers, hobbyists, and tinkerers.
This year UVM is providing 20 complimentary memberships to undergrad students! Applicants must be enrolled at UVM, in good standing, in your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th yr, 18+ years old, and a member of a Career Interest Group.

Notice: Please do not apply if you will not be in Burlington for the entire school year. If you are studying abroad, or spending a semester in another city do not apply as you could be displacing another student who will make use of this opportunity for the full year.
Acceptance into the Program Grants You:
- 10 Month Complimentary Membership: Sept. 14, 2026- July 18, 2027
- TWO FREE Rapid Prototyping Tool Trainings: Sewing, Laser, Vinyl Cutting, 3D Printing, or Electronics

- Generator Facility Access from 6am-10pm
