The Generator Makerspace is a combination of artist studios, classroom, and business incubator at the intersection of art, science, and technology. Generator provides the tools, expertise, education, and opportunity to create, collaborate, and turn ideas into reality.
Generator comprises 8 unique shop spaces- Woodshop, Metal Shop, Jewelry Studio, Electronics Lab, Sewing Studio, Vinyl Cutting, Laser Cutting, and 3D Printing Lab! The members utilizing the space range from small business owners, artists, engineers, hobbyists, and tinkerers.
Each academic year, UVM awards 12 FREE Generator Memberships to undergrad students! Applicants must be currently enrolled at UVM, in good standing, in your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th yr, 18+ years old, and a member of a Career Interest Group.
If you are interested in being considered for membership, please complete the application below!
*we ask that students who will not be in the Burlington for a semester (ex. study abroad or semester in the city), hold off on applying as it takes an opportunity away from another student who will be here the whole year.
Acceptance into the Program Grants You:
- FREE 10-month membership: Sept. 16, 2025- July 16, 2026
- TWO FREE Tool Trainings from the following shops: Sewing, Laser Cutting, Vinyl Cutting, 3D Printing, Electronics
- Access to Generator's Facility from 6am-10pm
