For 2025 we are bringing together the WAC Justice for Workers organizing meeting with the Ontario Somali Council annual meeting in Toronto. The Justice for Workers meeting brings together union and non-union workers from across Ontario to learn from each other, attend workshops as well as plan the next steps in the fight for decent work. The Ontario Somali Council meeting will bring together Somali representatives from 7 cities to talk about common concerns and plan how we will work together.
The Justice for Workers Meeting will be taking place Friday, September 26 to Sunday, September 28 at the Toronto Metropolitan University Student Centre at 55 Gould Street. The Ontario Somali Council meeting will take place for the full day on Sunday September 28 at the same location.
For the best experience, we suggest arriving around 5pm on Friday September 26 to attend the Friday session if possible. Then we would like you to attend the full day on Saturday, and then the Somali Council meeting on Sunday. The council meeting would be only for our Council members.
The Workers' Action Centre (WAC)will provide accomodation for those Council members from outside of the Greater Toronto Area. WAC will pay for those traveling outside the GTA accomodation for two nights at a hotel, gas, car rental and parking expenses. We will provide breakfast, snacks and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. Please note that any food for Friday night, Saturday evening, meal expenses during travel to and from the meeting will NOT be covered. Thank you for your ongoing commitment for justice!
We are not able to guarantee accommodation (i.e., ASL interpretation, mobility support, food requirements, or financial subsidies) for those registered after Thursday, September 4, 2025.
