The Color Purple Audition Form

Obsidian Arts Collective (OArtsCo ATL) is bringing The Color Purple (2015 Broadway Revival) to the stage — and we are looking for YOU!

We’re seeking dynamic men and women ages 18–60 with powerhouse voices, commanding stage presence, and strong storytelling skills to bring iconic roles to life — Celie, Mister, Shug Avery, Sofia, Harpo, Nettie, Pa, The Church Ladies, and Ensemble.

The 2015 Broadway revival of The Color Purple was a Tony Award–winning reimagining, celebrated for its stripped-down staging and soul-stirring performances that put the story and music front and center.

📅 Schedule
- Auditions: Sunday, September 7, 2025
  - Dance: 1pm–3pm
  - Open Call: 3pm–8pm
- Location: Mark Squared Studios, 2321 4th Street, Suite 201, Tucker, GA 30084
- Rehearsals: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 7:30–10:30pm (not everyone will be needed each day).
- Tech Rehearsals: Mandatory November 3–7, 2025. Please do not apply if unavailable.
✨ How to Prepare & Apply

🎶 Vocal Audition
- Prepare 16–32 bars (30 seconds–1:30 minutes) of a Gospel song that shows your vocal range.
- May be sung a cappella or with a track (bring your track on a phone/device with aux or Bluetooth).
- If auditioning for a specific role, please use the suggested audition pieces and karaoke tracks below:
  - Celie (Mezzo Belter, E3–B5, African-American, 20s–30s): “I’m Here” Karaoke Track
  - Shug Avery (Mezzo Belter, E3–Eb5, African-American, 30s–40s): “Push Da Button” Karaoke Track
  - Sofia (Mezzo Belter, E3–B4, African-American, 20s–40s): “Hell No” Karaoke Track
🎭 Monologue

Prepare the monologue from the sides provided (LINKED HERE).

💃 Dance Audition

Dancers will learn choreography on site and present it to the panel. Please wear comfortable attire and appropriate shoes.
