    Due: November 2, 2025 (Year 2), January 25, 2026 (Year 1)
  • The Role of the Sponsor

  • Qualifications: Sponsors must be at least 16 years old, a sacramentally-Confirmed Roman Catholic, and must not be a parent of the candidate. Sponsors should also be practicing members of the Catholic Church and mature enough to assume the responsibilities involved.

    In the Confirmation Celebration: The sponsor, representing the entire faith community, presents the Candidate to the Bishop for anointing.

    In Everyday Life: Through prayer, examples and advice, the sponsor helps guide the confirmed in a life of Christian discipleship. Their own lives should be full of faith and Christian service.

    Before you fill out the rest of the survey, you must ask your prospective sponsor the following questions based on the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Chicago. If they say “no” to any of these questions, they are not eligible to be your sponsor.
