    It's not all about sport at Cross Recreation Centre - we're all about connection and wellbeing too! Our first workshops are here, with more coming in the new year.

  • Workshops

    Please read through the description of the workshops being held October-December 2025 and then select those you would like to attend.

    Please note, all workshops have a minimum number of registrations required before it will be confirmed as going ahead.

    All workshops will be held in the Tyrone McElrea Lounge, Cross Recreation Centre, Glasgow Street, Balclutha.

  • Textured Art (with Kom from Papa's Art Room)

    Kom will take you through the basics of modern textured floral art using differnt tools and techniques.  All experience levels.

    Time:  1.00-3.00pm

  • Perfume Making (with Jo from Boho Jo)

    Learn about perfumery, scent selection and blending.  Create two bespoke perfumes, one roller ball oil and one eau de parfume.  With personalised guidance, you'll create something truly special for yourself!  This workshop is for ages 15+.

  • Candle Making (with Jo from Boho Jo)

    Come along and create your own scented soy candles, one in a decorative tin and one n a vintage cut glass jar. This workshop is for ages 15+.

  • Dried Floral Arrangement - Mini Pot (with Heidi from The Floral Room NZ)

    This beginner's workshop will take you through the creation of a lovely arrangement in a 10cm white pot.

    Colour choices available:  natural & white; blush pink & white; soft purple; warm bright; Christmas (traditional) - please indicate your colour choice in the notes section before submitting your form.

    Dried Floral Arrangement - Half Gold Hoop (with Heidi from The Floral Room NZ)

    This workshop will show you how to make a lovely arrangement on a 25cm gold hoop.

    Colour choices available:  natural & white; blush pink & white; soft purple; warm bright; Christmas (traditional) - please indicate your colour choice in the notes section before submitting your form.

  •  Acrylic Painting (with Calli from CaLiko Creations)

    Come along and learn in a group to paint the image below.

  • Confirmation of Registration

    You will receive confirmation that your registration has been received within two days of booking.

  • Payment

    Once minimum numbers are confirmed for each workshop, an invoice will be issued. Payment is required within two days of receiving your invoice. Registrations without payment will be cancelled, and attendance will not be permitted.

  • Refunds - Postponement of Workshop by Organiser

    If the workshop needs to be postponed by the Organiser, registration costs will be transferred to the rescheduled date. If this date does not suit, a full refund will be issued, or the registration can be transferred to another Attendee.

  • Refunds - Cancellation of Workshop by Organiser

    If the workshop needs to be cancelled by the Organiser, a full refund will be issued. The Organiser will provide as much notice as reasonably possible in the event of cancellation.

  • Refunds - Withdrawal of Workshop by Attendee

    If an attendee is unable to participate in a workshop, refunds will be issued according to the following schedule: 7 or more days prior to the workshop: Full refund; 3–6 days prior to the workshop: 50% refund; Within 48 hours of the workshop: No refund will be issued.

  • Transfer of Booking

    In place of a refund, attendees may nominate another person to take their spot in the workshop at no additional cost. Notice of transfer must be provided prior to the workshop commencement.
