As of March 2021 in Scotland, new-build social housing, flats and shared multi-occupied residential buildings must be fitted with automatic fire suppression (ie sprinkler) systems regardless of building height, as must warehouses of over 14,000 m2 in size. Sprinkler systems are also required in all new or majorly refurbished schools. Should legislation in England match these requirements, or is it the case that sprinkler systems should be mandated in all new buildings?

Given the unique risks posed in relation to railway stations, Control Centres and other operational facilities, should a formal and rail-specific competency framework be developed for professionals carrying out fire risk assessments and DSEAR assessments in these environments?
