Safe Sport Communication Policy
Royal T Equestrian is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and transparent training environment for all athletes. As a program operating in alignment with **Equestrian Canada Safe Sport policies and the **National Coaching Certification Program Code of Ethics, clear communication practices are required when working with athletes under the age of 18.
To support these standards, the following communication guidelines apply to all coaches, athletes, and families.
Parent/Guardian Inclusion
All electronic communication with athletes under 18 must include a parent or guardian. Coaches will communicate primarily through parents regarding scheduling, training updates, competitions, and program matters. Direct private messaging between coaches and minor athletes is not permitted unless a parent or guardian is included.
Professional Communication
All communication between coaches and athletes must remain professional and related to sport participation, including lessons, horse care, competition preparation, and team activities. Personal conversations unrelated to training are not appropriate within the coach–athlete relationship.
Training Environment
Instruction may occur one-on-one as part of equestrian training; however, coaching interactions will occur in open, observable environments such as arenas, barns, or competition areas whenever possible. Parents and guardians are welcome to observe lessons.
Social Media
Coaches will maintain professional boundaries on social media and will not engage in private social media conversations with minor athletes. Program updates and team communication may be shared through public or parent-inclusive channels.
Questions or Concerns
Families are encouraged to communicate openly with coaches regarding any questions or concerns. Royal T Equestrian supports Safe Sport practices that promote transparency, athlete safety, and positive development.
By participating in the Royal T Equestrian program, athletes and parents acknowledge and agree to follow these communication guidelines.
