WILD ANIMAL and WILDERNESS INTERFACE
Rising Hill Learning and the surrounding neighborhood, the Meadows of Altadena, is located within the boundaries of the Angeles National Forest. This provides us with stunning natural opportunities, including hyper-local access to trailheads, fresh canyon air and seasonal streams.
FARM WORK ENVIRONMENT
The yard hosting Rising Hill Learning’s Junior Farmers program has uneven paths and rustic structures. When participating in the Junior Farmers program, children will interact with domestic animals and farming and gardening tools.
o I acknowledge that while in the Angeles National Forest, my child may encounter native creatures big and small, including but not limited to: spiders, bees, snakes, racoons, bobcats, coyotes, bears and mountain lions.
o I acknowledge that natural and garden settings provide myriad multisensory opportunities including but not limited to uneven pathways, rocks, sticks, and thorny, pokey or noxious plants.
o I acknowledge that my child may incur minor injuries while participating, from rustic structures, enclosures, fences, and tools.
o I understand that when scared or hurt, an otherwise gentle animal may try to communicate with scratches, bites or kicks. I acknowledge that, although unlikely, my child may incur minor injuries while interacting with animals.
