    GCO Scholarship Program 2025

  • The mission of the Goan Charitable Organization (G.C.O.) is to provide support
    and financial assistance and care to the socially disadvantaged, to address the
    concerns & needs towards the welfare of the community in all social service areas and to promote the advancement of education and opportunity for people of all ages.


    To support their mission, the G.C.O is offering a $2,500 post-secondary school
    scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year to students who demonstrate effort
    and perseverance to realize their full potential.

    Eligibility Criteria:
     Graduating high school students and current undergraduate students aged
    16-23.
     A minimum average grade of 60%, or its equivalent, is required
     Eligible post-secondary education institutions include apprenticeship or
    trades certificate or diploma; college, CEGEP or other non-university
    certificate or diploma; university certificate or diploma below bachelor level;
    or a university degree in Canada.
     Applicants must have the intention to give back to the community (i.e. pay it
    forward) during or after their schooling.

  • G.C.O. Arts and Sciences Scholarship Application Requirements:

     Current high school or post-secondary school transcript (unofficial is
    acceptable)
     For graduating high school students, provide an admission decision letter
    (when available) from an eligible post-secondary institution showing
    acceptance for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year
     A curriculum vitae or resume that showcases the type(s) of community
    service activities performed and the corresponding number of community
    service hours performed
     Within 750 words, write an essay (12pt Times New Roman font and double-
    spaced), describing how your volunteer experiences have shaped you into a
    well-rounded individual. Also, what you have learned from your community
    involvement and how will you continue to give back to your community
    upon graduation.
     One community service reference letter, addressed to the G.C.O.

     

    G.C.O. Abilities Scholarship Requirements

     Current high school or post-secondary school transcript (unofficial is
    acceptable)
     For graduating high school students, provide an admission decision letter
    (when available) from an eligible post-secondary institution showing
    acceptance for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year
     A curriculum vitae or resume that showcases the type(s) of community
    service activities performed and the corresponding number of community
    service hours performed.
     Within 750 words, write an essay describing how you have overcome a
    challenge or systematic barrier in your life. Also, what you have learned
    from your community involvement and how will you continue to give back
    to your community upon graduation.
     One community service reference letter, addressed to the G.C.O.

     

    G.C.O. Community Service Scholarship Requirements:

     Current high school or post-secondary school transcript (unofficial is
    acceptable)
     For graduating high school students, provide an admission decision letter
    (when available) from an eligible post-secondary institution showing
    acceptance for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year
     A curriculum vitae or resume showcasing the type(s) of community service
    activities performed by the applicant and the corresponding number of
    community service hours performed
     Within 750 words, write an essay (12pt Times New Roman font and double-
    spaced), describing who has been your biggest mentor/role model and why.
    Also, what have you learned from your community involvement and how
    will you continue to give back to your community upon graduation.

    G.C.O. Skilled Trades Scholarship Requierments:

    Current high school or Skilled Trades program transcript (unofficial is
    acceptable)
     For graduating high school students, provide an admission decision letter
    (when available) from an eligible Skilled Trades program showing
    acceptance for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year
     A curriculum vitae or resume that showcases the type(s) of community
    service activities performed and the corresponding number of community
    service hours performed
     Within 750 words, write an essay (12pt Times New Roman font and double-
    spaced), describing who has been your biggest mentor/role model and why.
    Also, what have you learned from your community involvement and how
    will you continue to give back to your community upon graduation.
