  • Mission Statement

  • Aces & Academics Youth Tennis program is a non-profit 501(c3) organization whose purpose is to promote the educational, physical and social development of all youth through organized tennis and educational activities.

  • Organizational Purpose

  • The purpose of Aces and Academics of New Haven, Inc., a Connecticut Corporation, is to provide enriched tennis instruction and training forages 8-18, to increase participation in the tournament circuit along with coordinated educational supports that enrich mathematical skill and understanding for children of the greater New Haven area. The goal is to help children interested in tennis to be competitive on the court and in the classroom.

  • Program Goal

    • The goals of the Aces & Academics Youth Tennis program are:
    • To help children develop their fullest potential focusing on tennis skills, self awareness interpersonal relationships, physical skills, health and nutrition.
    • To deliver a program in a safe and happy environment.
    • To teach children responsibility, respect, and honesty.
  • Behavior Guidelines and Policy

    • Aces & Academics Youth Tennis program requires behavior that allows all students and staff to perform safely and effectively on the tennis courts.To carry out this policy and to establish standards of behavior, the program participants, parent, and staff are all responsible for:
    • Respecting the authority of the staff.
    • Behaving in a manner that does not dispute or interfere with the rights of the other participants and staff.

    The parent is responsible for: Accepting and respecting the right of the Aces & Academics Youth program to require discipline standards of behavior for all the campers. Reviewing the Aces & Academics Youth Tennis Program and USTA rules and regulations with family members to ensure all are familiar and understand the standards of conduct. Cooperating with staff in carrying out appropriate discipline techniques when necessary.

    Violation of the Aces & Academics Youth Tennis Program’s discipline policy may result in dismissal without recourse.

  • Behavior Expectations of Children:

    • Please take a few minutes and sit down with your child and go over the following basic guidelines and expectations for Camp.
    • Do not throw or swing your racquet at anyone.
    • No sitting or leaning on the nets.
    • Shirts and tennis shoes (no black soles) must be worn at all times.
    • Proper behavior and language are expected at all times.
    • No bicycles, skateboards, shoes with wheels, rollerblades or scooters allowed.
    • Bicycles should be properly locked-up outside the front gate.
    • Children under 7 years old will not be sent by themselves to the restrooms.
    • All children MUST receive permission from their coach prior to leaving the tennis court area (or any activity) for a bathroom break, or any reason.
    • Please help keep the court area neat and clean.
    • Always stay within your assigned court area unless otherwise instructed.
  • Practice Hours/Drop Off & Pick Up Times/Late Pick Up Policy

  • Tuesdays 5pm-7pm and Sat 9am-11am

  • Pick Up Times

  • Practice will end promptly at 7pm or 11am. It is expected that all participants will be picked up by their parents or designated pick up person at the conclusion of the practice.

  • Late Pick Up Policy

  • Late Pick-ups will pay a $5/ minute late-pick-up fee payable upon pick up

    Adults who are not able to produce valid identification will not be allowed to remove a child from the tennis court, regardless of whether the adult’s name appears in the participant’s camper information log as an emergency contact or authorized guardian. .Parents will list the designated adults who are authorized to pick up participants as a part of the camp application and emergency contact information.

  • Admission Policies and Requirements:

  • Parents or guardians must complete registration forms prior to the start of the child’s participation.Parents or guardians must complete the Aces & Academics release form located on the last page of this handbook, prior to the first day of the child participating.

  • Emergency Contacts/Numbers

  • ALL EMERGENCY NUMBERS must be kept up to date. We may only release your children to those persons listed on the information sheet. Please keep us informed of any changes.

  • Enrollment Procedures

  • To enroll in the Aces & Academics Summer Youth Tennis Program, please complete this form and submit your payment.

  • Rain Policy

  • The program will be cancelled in the event of rain unless indoor facilities are obtained

  • Lost and Found

  • Aces & Academics is not responsible for items lost, but will maintain a current lost and found box for 30 days, and if not claimed, the item will be donated to charity. PLEASE LABEL ALL ITEMS YOU SEND WITH YOUR CHILD (Name & phone#

  • Illness

  • Please notify Aces & Academics at (203) 500-7861 if your child will be absent. The Aces & Academics Spring Youth Tennis program does not have facilities to care for ill children. NO medications of any kind, prescription or not, will be administered by staff. Three absences without a valid excuse will mean discharge from the program.

  • Snacks and Beverages

  • All participants are responsible for bringing in their own water bottle.

  • What to Bring & Wear (HINT: LABEL EVERYTHING!!!)

    • Back pack or sports bag to carry his/her belongings
    • Sweatshirt Sunscreen Hat/Visor, Water, and Racket will be provided if needed.
  • Sunscreen Policy

  • Although staff will remind the campers to apply their sunscreen, the staff is not responsible for direct application. SUGGESTION: Apply sunscreen before coming to camp each day.

  • RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT

  • Aces & Academics of New Haven, Inc., a Connecticut non-profit corporation (herein collectively referred to as “AAYTP”, provides program(s) (“Activities”) including but not limited to tennis, fitness, academic enrichments and other strengthening exercises, etc.

    In consideration for being permitted to utilize the facilities, services, and programs of the AAYTP for any purpose, including but not limited to observation or use of facilities or equipment, or participation in any program affiliated with the AAYTP, without respect to location, the undersigned, for himself or herself and any personal representatives, heirs, and next of kin, hereby acknowledges, agrees and represents that he or she has, or immediately upon entering or participating will inspect and carefully consider such premises and facilities or the affiliated program. It is further warranted that such entry into the AAYTP for observation or use of any facilities or equipment or participation in such affiliated program constitutes an acknowledgement that such premises and all facilities and equipment thereon and such affiliated programs have been inspected and carefully considered and that the undersigned finds and accepts same as being safe and reasonably suited for the purpose of such observation, use, or participation and such children.

    IN FURTHER CONSIDERATION OF BEING PERMITTED TO ENTER THE AAYTP FOR ANY PURPOSE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO OBSERVATION OR USE OF FACILITIES OR EQUIPMENT, OR PARTICIPATION IN ANY PROGRAM AFFILIATED WITH THE AAYTP, WITHOUT RESPECT TO LOCATION, THE UNDERSIGNED HEREBY AGREES TO THE FOLLOWING:

    1.THE UNDERSIGNED HEREBY RELEASES, WAIVES, DISCHARGES AND

    COVENANTS NOT TO SUE the AAYTP, its directors, officers, employees, and agents (hereinafter referred to as “releases”) from all liability to the undersigned, his personal representatives, assigns, heirs, and next of kin for any loss or damage, and any claim or demands therefor on account of injury to the person or property or resulting in death of the undersigned, whether caused by the negligence of the releases or other wise while the undersigned is in, upon, or about the premises or any facilities or equipment therein, or participating in any program affiliated with the AAYTP, without respect to location.

    2. THE UNDERSIGNED HEREBY AGREES TO INDEMNIFY AND SAVE AND HOLD

    HARMLESS the releases and each of them from any loss, liability, damage, or cost they may incur due to the presence of the undersigned’s child or children in, upon, or about the AAYTP premises or in any way observing or using any facilities or equipment of the AAYTP or participating in any program affiliated with the AAYTP whether caused by the negligence of the releases or otherwise.

    3. THE UNDERSIGNED HEREBY ASSUMES FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR AND RISK

    OF BODILY INJURY, DEATH, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE due to any negligence of releases or otherwise while in, about, or upon the premises of the AAYTP and/or while

  • using the premises or any facilities or equipment thereon or participating in any program affiliated with the AAYTP.

    THE UNDERSIGNED further expressly agrees that the forgoing RELEASE, WAIVER AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT is intended to be as broad and inclusive as is permitted by the law of the State of California and that if any portion thereof is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance shall, notwithstanding, continue in full legal force and effect.

    THE UNDERSIGNED HAS READ AND VOLUNTARILY SIGNS THE RELEASE AND

    WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNITYAGREEMENT, and further agrees that no oral representations, statements, or inducement apart from the foregoing written agreement have been made.

  • Medical Release

  • I, grant to AAYTP to act as guardians/spokesmen in granting permission for emergency treatment/hospitalization (including anesthesia) if necessary for the Participant, en route to or from or at the site of any ”Activity” or hospital or other medical facility. I understand that should a health emergency arise, I will be attempted to be notified, but that if I cannot be reached by telephone, such medical treatment as deemed necessary by competent medical personnel is authorized. I further understand that I will be

    responsible for payment of any such medical procedures.

  • I hereby authorize AAYTP to allow the reproduction, dissemination, and/or publication of my name and likeness for media coverage, public relations, or any other purpose which may involve the use of photographs, films, and/or video tape recording. This is to be done in conjunction with my participation in an “Activity” or event and I understand and agree that I may neither pay a fee to receive individual promotional consideration from my participation, nor will I receive any payment for the possible commercial use of my name or likeness.
