OAK RIDGE KENNEL CLUB CODE OF ETHICS
To maintain the goals and standards of the Club, members of The Oak Ridge Kennel Club agree to adhere to By-Laws, Rules, Regulations, and Policies of the Club and to also follow the Code of Ethics as listed below:
Club Members shall:
1. Be dedicated to creating an environment at the Club that is friendly, fun, inviting, educational and supportive.
2. Strive to always serve the best interests of the Club.
3. Always remember that they and their dogs are representatives of the Club both private and public events.
4. Conduct themselves in a fashion that upholds the goals and standards of ORKC.
5. Ensure that their dogs are always kept safe and under control.
6. Properly train their dogs so that they are not a nuisance or disturbance to other dogs and handlers when attending Club or any functions, but rather exemplify canine good citizen behavior and are an asset to the community.
7. Appreciate the efforts of all club members.
8. Are supportive of new and current members of the Club.
9. Deal fairly and considerately at all times with members, handlers and dogs, as well as those who participate in the Club's programs and events.
10. Harassment, abusive language, and abusive behavior will not be tolerated by either members or non-members. Abusive language, behavior and cruelty to animals is a direct violation of this Code.
Members who are in violation of the Code of Ethics and/or Good Sportsmanship as set forth by AKC, are subject to disciplinary action per Article VI of the Constitution.
