    CALLING ALL CANDIDATES

We currently have a vacancy on the Sunnymead Ranch Board of Directors as a result of Director Pat Escobar's resignation from the Board. The Board extends many thanks to her for her valuable service.

In the interest of filling this seat, the Board of Directors would like to interview members who are interested in serving out the remaining term of this vacant position.

To give all members the opportunity to express their interest in serving, the Board of Directors is now actively soliciting member candidates. The deadline for receipt of Candidate Applications is September 30, 2025 at 5:00 pm.

The Board will meet individually with applicants, in Special Executive Session, for the purpose of identifying qualified and competent candidates to fill this vacancy. The vote to approve a vacancy candidate will be conducted in Open Session.

    THE ROLE OF A DIRECTOR

    Did You Know?

    • Sunnymead Ranch Planned Community Association (SRPCA) is a California corporation and our elected Directors are part of the leadership team of that corporation.
    • While SRPCA is not as large as Microsoft or AT&T, our Directors act as corporate board members, responsible for running the business of the assocation.
    • Our "corporate investors" are our "SRPCA members" and Directors are instrumental in maximizing the return on our SRPCA members investment—their homes.
    • Directors are elected officials which makes our Board of Directors similar to a town council member, responsible for ensuring that services are provided, assessments are collected and that rules are appropriate and fairly applied.
    • Directors assume the role of a leader. Our association is a large neighborhood - making Directors a role model, social director, and cheerleader — in short, a community builder.

HOW TO BE A SUCCESS AS A DIRECTOR

    • Put your personal preferences and circumstances aside. When you make decisions as a board member, you have an obligation to work in the best interest of the entire community, regardless of how they affect you personally.
    • Educate yourself. Part of learning how to be a good board member will come from trial and error; but, you can reduce the errors and the time it takes you to get up to speed by attending seminars, reading books, networking with community association board members, asking questions of your manager, accountant, or attorney, downloading free materials from the web, and much more.
    • Know the difference between the roles of the board and the manager. Boards set policy and make policy decisions. Managers implement the board’s directives and take care of operations.
    • Stand united. Once the board makes a decision, stand behind it and make every effort to see it succeed—even if you voted against it.
    • Don’t allow personality differences to interfere with the work of the board. Be cooperative, positive, and make every ef- fort to stay focused on the needs of the community.
    • Be reasonable. Although boards have a big responsibility, they needn’t be over zealous or inflexible to fulfill it. Avoid snap decisions, act rather than react, and deal with real problems, not nuisance situations.
