  • Competition Rules & Guidelines
    Open to students ages 10–18
    Projects may be individual or in teams of up to 3 students
    PSA video must be 30–90 seconds long
    PSA must include the following components:
    • Promote healthy choices
    • Provide positive solutions
    • Substance abuse prevention (drug-free, vape-free, alcohol-free)
    • Stress management & mindfulness
    • Positive friendships & peer support
    • Coping strategies for school & life
    All entries must be original work
    Content must be school-appropriate
    (No profanity, vulgar, sexually suggestive content, or violence)
    No copyrighted music, clips, or images without permission
    If original music, images, or artwork are used, appropriate credit must be provided in the submission form or video credits
    All individuals appearing in the PSA must provide consent to be filmed
    PSA must be submitted in a standard video format (e.g., MP4 or MOV)
    All entries must be submitted by October 4, 2025
    Finalists must be available on October 15, 2025 to present live via Zoom
    Parental permission is required for all students under 18
    Contestants whose films are not selected for the final round will receive a Certificate of Completion
    By submitting, students and parents agree that their PSA may be featured on the Tyson Multimedia Inc. website, social media, and in press coverage

    2 people = $150 each
    3 people = $100 each

    Note: 
    Mentorship includes one 45-minute Zoom session with each judge, within 60 days of competition completion, facilitated by Tyson Multimedia Inc.

    2 people = $75 each
    3 people = $50 each
    Medal for each team member

    Robert X. Golphin (Los Angeles, CA & Philadelphia, PA) – Multi-award-winning actor, filmmaker, writer, and director. Best known for his role in The Great Debaters with Denzel Washington, Golphin brings Hollywood experience back to his roots. His latest feature, Chest Candy, is a multi-award-winning film premiering at the Raleigh Film & Art Festival in October 2025. With strong North Carolina ties and a track record of producing projects in Wilson County, Robert continues to inspire through storytelling and his company, Robert X. Golphin Entertainment.
    🎯 Mentorship Focus: Acting craft, directing, storytelling, and navigating the professional film industry.

     

    Dr. Tiffany Tyson (Wilson, NC) – Psychiatric provider, graduate of Duke University, three-time Amazon bestselling author, and wellness leader. As CEO & co-founder of Tyson Multimedia Inc., Dr. Tyson blends STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) education with youth empowerment and media production. She is also the creator of Patti and Friends, a children’s mindfulness and SEL brand. She uplifts her community by providing both wellness care and creative platforms—like this PSA Film Competition—to elevate student voices.
    🎯 Mentorship Focus: Writing, leadership, self-esteem, balancing wellness and creativity, and developing projects that make an impact.

     

    Mrs. Ernestine Tyson (Wilson, NC) – Co-founder of Tyson Multimedia Inc., educator, author, mentor, and licensed cosmetologist. From Wilson, NC, she helps students build self-esteem, skin health, art, and entrepreneurship skills through STEAM education programs. Known for her ability to merge education with style expertise, Ernestine inspires young people to embrace both professionalism and authenticity as they step into leadership roles.
    🎯 Mentorship Focus: Style and presentation, entrepreneurship, creative confidence, and leadership.

     

    Shreco Bakari (Macon, GA)
    Multi-award-winning filmmaker, actor, and writer whose projects have earned nearly 300 international awards. His work has been recognized at film festivals across the country for excellence in storytelling, creativity, and production quality. Shreco is currently in pre-production for his next feature film, Night of Fright, co-starring Disney Channel and Nickelodeon actor Gary L. Gray. 

    🎯 Mentorship Focus: Storytelling, film production, creative discipline, and building a sustainable career in entertainment.

     

    Local Leader

    Mayor Carlton Stevens (Wilson, NC) – Mayor of Wilson, NC, passionate about uplifting youth voices and strengthening community ties. Mayor Stevens will personally meet with winners to celebrate their achievements and share words of encouragement about leadership, responsibility, and making positive choices for the future.
