  • Wycliffe has several different paths to get involved through serving:

    • unpaid volunteer or intern
    • traditionally paid staff person (such as hourly or salaried)
    • non-traditionally paid member (see description below)

Most Wycliffe missionaries receive a non-traditional salary. It comes from the gifts given in preference for their ministry by a team of financial partners that includes friends, family, churches and other groups. We call this “partnership development,” and we provide training and resources as you build your financial and prayer partnership team.

Non-traditional salaries are needs-based, determined by factors of housing and personal expenses based on geographic location, dependents and their ages, retirement savings, ministry expenses and taxes. Although salaries vary significantly and it’s not possible to provide an exact number, a typical non-traditional salary for a missionary household is $42,600 to $80,982 annually. These salaries do not include things like health insurance, worker’s compensation or life insurance, which are additional partnership-raised funds.

We know that moving from a traditional salary to a faith-based partnership team can be stressful and overwhelming. But you’re not alone! We want to come alongside you in this journey and help equip and encourage you as you see God do amazing things.

  • We desire to live out our values as Christians as we actively serve in the global Bible translation movement.

The following five principles are areas that we expect every Wycliffe staff member to be growing in.

    1. Faithful in following Christ (John 14:30, John 8:31-32)

Follow Christ faithfully, allowing Scripture to guide decisions and growing in relationship with God and His people.

    2. Intentional in collaboration (1 Corinthians 3:5-9, Romans 12)

Collaborate intentionally to accomplish work goals, demonstrating a commitment to cross-departmental and inter-organizational teamwork.

    3. Agile in learning (Proverbs 1:5, 2 Timothy 2:15)

Demonstrate a dedication to personal and professional growth by actively using development resources and fostering a culture that values continuous learning, individually and collectively.

    4. Growing in stewardship (1 Corinthians 4:2, 1 Peter 4:10)

Participate in God’s work, stewarding God’s resources responsibly and demonstrating trust that He will accomplish His goals.

    5. Serving with humility (Colossians 3:12, Ephesians 4:2)

Care for people, growing in relational maturity, exhibiting steadfastness, embracing diverse perspectives and fostering positive cross-cultural relationships.
