    The Metro Ministries Justice and Migration Grant Program is designed to encourage local United Methodist churches in Indiana to engage in ministry to migrants and refugees in their midst. The goal of this program is to help provide a deeper understanding and care for the most vulnerable in our communities, assisting them without regard to their race, religion or status. We also encourage participating congregations to think long term on how they can raise awareness to address systemic injustices present in current immigration policies or how they could more completely live into a new vision of the church as the Kingdom of God. Metro Ministries, Inc., will award 10 local United Methodist Churches grants of $2000.00 for congregations to engage in a new, one-time community-based service projects and ministries focused on migrants and refugees.
  • Grant Criteria:

    It must engage the congregations in the implementation of the project. It must serve refugees and migrants whether those migrants are refugees, asylum seekers, displaced persons, trafficked persons, stateless persons or economic and environmental migrants. The proposal must identify and respond to a localized and specific problem or fills a specific need or gap in services. This proposed program must be communicated to the refugees and migrants that the church is going to serve. This proposal must show that this is a feasible and viable for the church's capacity, background, expertise, staffing, existing partnerships and infrastructure and the proposed budget. The budget must show ALL other financial partnerships that can help sustain this program. The budget cannot exceed $2000.00. The churches will have 6 months to implement this project and submit a report of the results. Grants will not be awarded pay for travel, shipping or transporting of supplies, salaries of current church staff, or facility maintenance. This grant proposal MUST be a congregation-based community project and CANNOT be "pooled" with other congregations for the same project.
  • Grant Proposal Instructions:

    All questions must be answered thoroughly with the information clear and concise. When completing this proposal, please make certain that you have addressed the program, especially the congregational implementation of the project and exactly how the refugees/migrants will be selected separate and apart from their relationship with the church or Christianity, and how the refugees/migrants will benefit from this project. Projects must be implemented six months after grant award with a grant report due by Metro Ministries Executive Director. Grant Proposals WILL BE ACCEPTED BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 15, 2025. DEADLINE for submission is OCTOBER 31, 2025 by 11:55 pm.
