  • About the SOME FINE DAY Pix Program

    At SOME FINE DAY Pix, we believe in the power of storytelling to challenge perspectives, inspire change and break boundaries. More than just an NGO, we are a dynamic community of creatives, visionaries and industry professionals working together to shape the future of cinema. Through collaboration, mentorship and hands-on training, we empower filmmakers to refine their craft and bring their stories to audiences worldwide.


    Application: AI in VFX

    We are currently accepting applications for an intensive, hands-on AI in VFX Workshop.

    We are looking for:

    • VFX artists who want to integrate AI tools into their post-production workflows.
    • Aspiring AI creatives and technical enthusiasts eager to explore practical VFX applications of AI, learn from experienced practitioners, and experiment with workflows that combine creativity and technology.

    The goal of the workshop is to provide hands-on experience in AI-driven VFX, giving participants the tools and knowledge to enhance their projects with cutting-edge techniques while understanding the opportunities and limitations of current technology.

    The webinar contains of three focused sessions, each combining practical demonstrations, discussions, and curated resources:

      

    The Mentor

    Radek Wegrzyn is an award-winning filmmaker, educator, and co-founder of Magical Realist, whose work bridges cinema, documentary, and AI-driven storytelling. A graduate of the Konrad Wolf University of Film and Television in Potsdam and winner of the Ernst-Lubitsch Award for Miss Holocaust Survivor (2023), Radek combines filmmaking with AI innovation to teach masterclasses across Europe and internationally.


    Dates & Session Topics

    Day 1: November 3rd, 06:00 - 09:00 PM EAT (Zoom)

    Character & Compositing Workflows
    Character enhancement (workflow & asset management, color management, face replacement/swapping, lighting) and compositing (rotoscoping, object removal, motion tracking). Includes a tutorial list and recommended creators.


    Day 2: November 10th, 06:00 - 09:00 PM EAT (Zoom)

    AI-Enhanced Set Extensions & Cleanup
    AI-assisted set extensions, object removal, screen replacement, digital compositing, crowd simulations, and particle dynamics. Includes a tutorial list and recommended creators.


    Day 3: November 17th, 06:00 - 09:00 PM EAT (Zoom)

    Building Custom Pipelines with ComfyUI
    Creating your own AI pipelines with open-source models, training custom AI for consistency, and exploring technical requirements. Includes a tutorial list and recommended creators.

    Full participation on all days is required.

    By applying, you confirm that you are able to attend all sessions and fully commit your attention.

     

    Eligibility Criteria

    All applications must meet the following requirements:

    - A fully completed application form. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
    - Must hold African citizenship and be a permanent resident of Kenya.
    - Must be 18 years or older.
    - Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken.
    - Must have full access to a laptop (with webcam and audio) and a reliable Wi-Fi connection suitable for video conferencing. (Please note: no hardware or internet reimbursement will be provided. Participants are responsible for their own technical setup.)
    - A stable internet connection is mandatory for all workshop activities.
    - Alumni of One Fine Day Films & SOME FINE DAY Pix workshops are strongly encouraged to apply!

     

    How to Apply

    Your application must include the following 4 components:

    1. A completed application form.

    2. Supporting material:
    - Your CV.

    3. Optional: 1-minute video or work samples:
    You may also submit a video or attach samples that showcase your talent—whether it’s a past project, a clip created for this application, or a short excerpt of your completed work.

    Video guidelines:

    Upload your videos to www.youtube.com as “public” or “unlisted”.
    Video and audio must be clear.
    Do not exceed 1 minute. Videos longer than 1 minute will disqualify your application.

    Important: Incomplete forms or videos longer than 1 minute will not be considered.

     

    Further Conditions

    By applying, you confirm that:

    You own the rights to your submitted video(s) or have full permission to share them under national and international law.
    Your materials do not infringe on any third-party rights.
    You accept full legal responsibility for any disputes arising from copyright claims and will hold the SOME FINE DAY Pix Program harmless in such cases.


    Application Deadline

    Deadline to apply: Wednesday, October 29th, 2025
    You will receive feedback on your application by Friday, October 31st, 2025.


    Selection of Participants

    Participants will be selected at the sole discretion of the SOME FINE DAY Pix Program.
    You will receive an email response from making@somefinedaypix.org — please add this address to your contacts and regularly check your spam folder.

    Location: Online via Zoom


    Attendance Policy

    The SOME FINE DAY Pix Program is offered free of charge. In return, full attendance and active participation is required from all selected participants.

     

    Privacy & Data Protection

    We deeply respect your privacy.
    We do not sell or distribute your personal information or submitted work for commercial purposes.
    All application data will be treated confidentially. If selected, your profile may be included in an internal database or shared on our website to foster communication among participants, mentors and industry visitors.

    You will submit your application via JotForm, which is GDPR-compliant. We will only use your personal data for workshop-related purposes.

    If selected: Your email and phone number may be used to share important program information.
    If not selected: Your personal data will be deleted immediately.
    All data is stored securely on Microsoft servers in compliance with GDPR.
