Youth Leadership Academy Participant Application
RAN is excited to open applications for the 2026 Youth Leadership Academy. This program welcomes young leaders to apply for an enriching experience where they will learn, grow, and implement a development project within their home country. The criteria for each participant must be met:
- Aged 16-18 years old during January 2026 - July 2026
- Actively participating in rugby programming within home country (can be as a player, referee, coach, medic, or admin)
- Receive an endorsement from home Rugby Union to participate
- Receive parent/guardian permission to participate

Capstone Project
All participants in the academy will select a capstone project to implement in May-June 2026. All projects must be focused on a topic of development and cannot be used for anything related to high performance. Ideas for projects can be focused on (but not limited to):
- Increasing player participation for a particular group
- Improving training and education for a particular group
- Inclusive projects to involve a particular group such as those with disabilities, girls and women, incarcerated youth, etc.
- Implementing a junior referee program to increase the number of youth who referee
- Bringing medical education to young rugby folk
