Are you a licensee or a tenant?

In Ireland, there are two broad categories of renters: tenants and licensees. Tenants are defined in legislation, have protections under the Residential Tenancies Act, and can lodge disputes with the Residential Tenancies Board. Licensees are not strictly defined, do not necessarily have protections under the Residential Tenancies Act, and can almost never take issues to the Residential Tenancies Board. So do you know if you're a tenant or a licensee?
