  • SAPPHIRES Air Quality Research

We’re excited to invite you to participate in a study that explores protection for homes and families during poor air quality events. What we learn will help ensure healthier living spaces for everyone.

Indoor air quality has a direct impact on your health. By participating, you’ll help us better understand how to protect homes and families during poor air quality events, ensuring healthier living spaces for everyone.

    What to Expect

    • Duration: 1 week for phase 1 measurements, and 16 weeks for phase 2 measurements.
    • Incentives: You’ll receive gift cards as a token of our appreciation.
    • Measurements: The study tests how air cleaning or protection devices work. We'll place small instruments in your home to measure air quality.
    • Real-Time Interaction: You’ll receive air quality notifications and have the chance to interact with them. You'll also take simple surveys along the way.

This study is designed to fit your schedule. Your time and efforts will directly help improve how we manage air quality for our community. More information about the study and the SAPPHIRES research team can be found here or use the QR code below:

  • To help us understand more about your living situation, we'd like to know more about your home:

  • Format: (000) 000-0000.
  • Which best describes you?
  • Are you able to make decisions about changes to the home, either temporary or permanent?
  • What type of building do you live in?
  • What foundation does your home have?
  • Would you consider it a split-level home?
  • What type of heating and cooling does your home have? (check all that apply)
  • If you have central heating or cooling, where is the main unit located?
  • Do the electrical outlets in your home have three holes (three-prong, grounded)?
  • Are there any electrical outlets on the outside of your home?
  • During the study, would you usually be living in your home for about 16 weeks in a row, with no more than 3 weeks away (whether all at once or split up)? (We understand this can depend on the time of year—please answer based on your usual habits. If you are away for longer periods, your home may still qualify for part of the testing.)
  • Is there a place in your home where we could set up a small digital screen that shows air quality and suggests actions—and would you be willing to use it?
  • Does anyone smoke inside your home?
  • By submitting this form, you agree to allow Colorado State University to collect and store the information provided to respond to your inquiry or provide updates related to our programs or research. Your information will not be shared with third parties without your consent.
