  • Purpose

The Spirit Rock is a way to share positive messages with the school community. Families, students, and staff can paint it to celebrate birthdays, thank teachers, recognize milestones, cheer on competitions, or spread encouragement.

Important: Profanity, political messages, and business advertisements are not allowed.

    Rules

    • Only paint may be used (no glitter, glue, or attached items).
    • Paint and supplies are not provided by the school or PIC.
    • Paint only the front side (road-facing) of the rock.
    • Do not paint mulch, grass, or surrounding areas. Use tarps or coverings to protect the ground.
    • Clean up after painting: remove trash, paint cans, and materials. Improper cleanup may result in financial responsibility for damages.
    • Students must not climb on the rock (safety risk).
    • All messages must comply with the GVA Douglas County Student Code of Conduct (no bullying, profanity, or obscenity).
    • No business ads or political messages.
    • No reminders will be sent; it is your responsibility to keep track of your reservation.

    Supplies & Tips

    • Spray paint is most popular; plan for 2–3 cans for a base coat (more if using white). Spray paint dries quickly compared to latex.
    • For detailed designs: use craft paint, foam brushes, or stencils.
    • Cover the surrounding ground with old linens/tarps.
    • Recycle empty cans off school property.

    Weather & Painting Options

    • Rock can be towel-dried; paint adheres even in rain or snow.
If you prefer not to paint in bad weather, choose another available date.
    • GVA-DC/PIC does not provide painting services for families. You may hire someone to do so.

    Painter Options
