  • While APAC is not breed specific, we do have restrictions on which breeds can be taken into our rescue and if a restricted breed is brought into our rescue, there are limits on who can foster them.  New fosters are generally not approved to foster a restricted breed without demostrated experience and leadership skills for the restricted breed.

APAC requires all dogs, to the best of our ability, be determined to be people and other dog friendly.  If you have cats in your home, you will need to verify, to the best of your ability, that the dog you are interested in fostering is cat friendly.

  • APAC requires the following:

Foster must make a commitment to keep the foster dog they agree to take in until that dog is adopted.  This time can be very short, or it could be much longer than expected.

Foster must be able to take the foster dog to appropriate appointments at our vet, Animal Medical Care, in Temple, Texas for basic vetting and spay/neuter appointments.

Foster must be able to attend at least one adoption event per month at the Temple Petsmart.  Events are held on the weekends, typically the first and third Saturday.

Foster must provide pictures and biographical information on their foster dog for social media posts to help in finding a great home for the foster dog.

    APAC provides:

APAC covers the cost of basic vetting - rabies vaccine, parvo and distemper vaccines, heartworm test, microchip and heartworm prevention.  Foster is able to make this appointment at their earliest convenience or as a walk in to our vet.  All vetting is to be done at our vet in Temple, Texas - Animal Medical Care.  There will be no reimbursement for care provided by a different vet without prior approval.

APAC covers the cost of spay/neuter surgery and this appointment is made for the foster by an APAC representative.

APAC covers other needed vetting with prior approval.

APAC can assist with food and we will ask for donations if needed.

APAC can assist with other supplies such as bedding, puppy pads, kennels, collars, leashes etc.  Some of which we will need to ask for donations if there is a need.

The APAC team will offer encouragement and advice to help fosters be successful.

  • Pet Ownership History

  •
  • I have answered all questions truthfully and completely.  I understand and agree that I receive foster dogs at my own risk.  I understand that animals can be unpredictable in various situations and such behavior can result in injury to me, others in my household or my personal property, including death.  On behalf of myself, my heirs, and personal representatives I hereby release and hold harmless Association for Pet Adoption Center (APAC), it's Board of Directors, agents, and other volunteers from any and all claims, causes of action or demands of any nature or cause connected to my volunteer service. I can return, to APAC, dogs for which APAC has asked me to provide care.  I will not give away, sell or adopt out the foster animal without permission from an APAC officer or designated representative.  I agree to care for the foster animal as if it were my own, to provide food, water, love, exercise, medical attention and companionship.
