Program Overview

The Alpha Kappa Sigma (Austin, Texas) Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated is proud to host the 42nd Biennial Debutante Scholarship Program, culminating in Unveiling Royalty: An Evening of Elegance, a formal Debutante Ball to be held on December 19, 2026, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Austin, Texas. Established in 1947, this program is the oldest and longest-standing debutante scholarship initiative in Central Texas, celebrating young women and their accomplishments as they transition into adulthood.

Designed for outstanding young women who will be high school juniors, seniors, or college freshmen during the 2026–2027 academic year, the Debutante Scholarship Program is a cultural and educational experience that combines personal development, community engagement, and scholarship with a formal presentation to the Austin community. Rooted in tradition and guided by purpose, the program supports and celebrates young women as they grow into confident, capable, and purpose-driven leaders through intentional programming focused on leadership, service, academic excellence, and sisterhood. Applicants selected to participate will receive a confirmation email with next steps, including a link to submit the $800 debutante program fee.

The information below outlines important details and required materials needed to complete the Debutante Scholarship Program application. Please review carefully and gather required documents before proceeding.

Required Application Documents:

Two (2) letters of recommendation
File types accepted: .pdf or .docx
Maximum file size: 1 MB per file

A headshot of the applying Debutante

Maximum file size: 1 MB
Program Fee & Payment Schedule

Total Program Fee: $800
Please note that all payments made are non-refundable.

Payment Schedule:
$300 deposit due by May 15, 2026
Second payment of $200 due by June 1, 2026
Final payment of $300 due by July 1, 2026

Registration is considered complete once all required documentation has been submitted and all payments have been received.
Application Review & Registration

Upon submission of all required documentation, applications will be reviewed by the Debutante Committee. Families of selected applicants will receive a formal letter confirming acceptance into the Debutante Scholarship Program, along with additional information regarding registration, program expectations, and the upcoming program year.

Once applicants are approved, additional parental consent and release forms may be required.
