SUBMISSIONS FOR TEMPORARY FOOD FACILITY VENDORS WILL OPEN UP SOON!
  • Event location:

Rolling Greens • 1005 Mateo St., Los Angeles, CA 90021
  • How we curate:

Black Market Flea seeks out the most unique, Black-owned brands; those who go the extra mile to provide uncommon, signature products of quality, purpose and creativity. Due to our moderate capacity, we have a limit on how many vendors we approve within the same product category per month. This may be one reason a submission is not approved. Other reasons may include: the website or socials provided do not give an accurate representation of products, products are inappropriate for certain age groups (as we are an all ages event), products/service may not be sanitary for the event, products go against our zero tolerance policy for discrimination, or the products do not align with the curation of Black Market Flea.
  • Products we are looking for:

Delicious Food, Pastry, Non-Alcoholic Beverages and/or any goods intended for eating or drinking. All of the aforementioned must be permitted by the LA County Health Department! Please expect to provide health permits and/or a TFF for your food business to be sent to the health department for approval!
  • Products we are not looking for:

Alcoholic beverages, marijuana or marijuana product, illegal substances, service marketing/intangibles (real-estate, info booths, marketing services etc), weapons, intimacy products/toys, unlicensed practices, tattooing, piercing, offensive and discriminatory items.
  • General Vendor Q&A:

Q: Do I have to be and identify as Black to vend at Black Market Flea?

A: YES! Black Market Flea is a marketplace solely for Black vendors, but we welcome all who respect and support our ethos to attend the event!

    -

Q: I just applied to vend at BMF. When can I expect to hear back?

A: You can expect to hear back from us within a few days. If your submission is approved, you can only confirm your spot at BMF by signing the Letter of Agreement as well as completing payment.

    -

Q: If my submission is approved, how long do I have to complete the Letter of Agreement and submit payment?

A: Spots are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Spots will only be confirmed to those who have completed the agreement AND submitted payment. If either of the aforementioned is incomplete, you are considered "unconfirmed" and spaces may fill; meaning you may not be able to vend at the upcoming event!

    -

Q: How much does it cost to vend at BMF?

A: Spots range from $250 to $750 depending on size.

    -

Q: What are the options for vending spaces?

A: Vending spaces range from 10'x10' to 10'x30'. Out of fairness to all, we do not allow vendors to take up more space than what they have purchased and cannot accommodate last minute changes. We do not allow items (such as mirrors and clothing racks, etc.) to protrude out of your rented space, so we ask that you plan your set-up accordingly.

    -

Q: What is a TFF form and how much does it cost?

A: A Temporary Food Facility (TFF) permit is required for anyone who sells or gives away food or drinks at a public event in California, whether pre-packaged or made on-site. This includes permitted restaurants and individual food providers. The type of permit required depends on the food being served and how it's prepared. Any food vendor with pre-packaged items or who will be prepping food offsite must ALSO submit a Shared Food Facility Agreement.

    -

Q: What is a Shared Food Facility Agreement?

A: A Shared Food Facility Agreement form is a document that must be completed when a food booth operator prepares food in advance at a permitted food facility that they don't own. The form is also required when a food entrepreneur or other food industry professional needs to access a permitted kitchen for a short time to meet production needs. The agreement ensures that safe food handling practices are in place to protect the public's health. This form must be signed by the owner of the food facility and up-to-date.

    -

Q: Do I need to provide my own equipment including tables, chairs, canopy, etc?

A: Yes! All vendors are required to provide all necessities for their set up themselves. Black Market Flea will not provide these items.

    -

Q: Do I need to purchase and provide insurance for the event?

A: Yes! All approved Vendors must provide proof of valid insurance coverage in order to vend at Black Market Flea. Vendors can find insurance coverage details and information on the Payment Page.

    -

Q: Can my friends/family vend their products in my booth?

A: Because we are a curated market, every single business looking to vend with us is required to submit their own individual application and pay a vending fee, even if they prefer to share a space with another vendor!

    -

Q: What is your refund policy?

A: Black Market Flea will only offer refunds within 24 hours of purchase.
