Seasonal Ministries
Vacation Church School - A week each summer of faith and fun for children. Volunteers (adults & teens) help teach, organize activities, or serve snacks.
Christmas Sharing - Assist with our gift-giving program for families in need: tag the tree, sort presents, or deliver with holiday cheer.
Parish Bazaar - A tradition since the 1800s! Parishioner-artisans, local vendors, food, andcrafts. Help plan, participate, or donate. Proceeds support parish projects.
Church & Liturgical Ministries
Lectors / Commentators -Proclaim God’s Word and lead prayers at Mass. Training provided.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion - Assist with Communion at Mass, can also bring the Eucharist to the sick and homebound.
Ushers - Greet parishioners and welcome visitors at Mass, assist during Mass.
Altar Servers - Children and teens assist the celebrant at Mass. Training available.
Church Mice - Teams tidy and prepare the church each week. Great friends and for families! Once every
Collection Counters - Count and deposit parish collections in teams of three, once every 6 weeks.
Flower Ministry - Arrange & maintain weekly and seasonal decorations, especially at Christmas and Easter
Altar Guild & Linen Care - Care for altar linens, candles and liturgical items. Flexible commitment.
Music Ministry - Choir, cantors and instrumentalis serve at Mass. Rehearsals weekly.
Youth Ministry - Ages 14+ are invited to join in prayer, service, food & good times!
Faith Formation and Prayer
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament - Spend time with Jesus; commit to a weekly hour. Or, sign up to be a substitute to fill in as needed.
Pray for Our Priest - Offer an extra monthly holy hour on a particular day for our pastor.
Adult Faith Formation - Attend Sunday morning studies on scripture, theology and spirituality. Also needed, help with coffee and snacks!
CCD Catechists - Share the faith with parish children; curriculum & support provided.
OCIA - Christian Initiation - Journey with those seeking to enter the Catholic faith by being a sponsor.
Parish Library - Volunteer to help with book sales or inventory.
Prayer Hotline - Join to pray for immediate needs.
Ministry of Praise - praying daily for the needs of the parish and for the specific requests of parishioners; a list of requests is sent to you each month. Ideal for the homebound.
Legion of Mary - Weekly meetings, prayer, and work of mercy. Meets Thursdays at 1pm. Auxiliary members support through prayer at home.
Knights of Columbus - Catholic men serving through fraternity, charity and prayer.
Lumen Christi Legacy Society - Planned giving to support our parish's future.
Hospitality Ministries
Parish Life - Help plan and host parish celebrations and receptions.
Wecome Wagon - Reach out to new parishioners and connect them to parish activities.
Senior Lunch / Lunch Bunch - Monthly fellowship meal for older parishioners. Volunteers cook, serve and share in the fun. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED.
Sactity of Life Ministries
Culture of Life - Prayer, public witness and action, speakers, study groups and outreach.
Mary's House - Spiritual, social and material support for mothers in need, including post-abortion healing.
St. Gerard Ministry - Prayer and practical support for expectant families, the grieving, and families with newborns.
Community Outreach & Service
Haiti Outreach - Support our twin parish through scholarships, funds to support the church and clinic, and prayer.
SACRA - Staunton Augusta Church Relief Association - Ecumenical food and financial aid ministry based at St. Francis. Volunteers stock and distribute food weekly.
Perpetual Care - Care for parish cemeteries and preserve our history.
Meals on Wheels / Homebound Meals - Deliver meals to the elderly and homebound.
Valley Mission Service Group - prepare and serve meals for those in need.
Trinity Lunch - Partner with Trinity Episcopal to provide meals every other 3rd Tuesday.
St. Jude Ministry - Offer support to parishioners in times of illness or crisis.
Funeral Receptions - Provide special hospitality to families following a funeral.
Parish Picnic - Help with this annual fellowship event of food, games & fun!
