  • Idaho Career Technical Education Foundation Tools of the Trade Scholarship 2026 Application

    This $1,000 scholarship helps to offset the costs of purchasing required equipment/tools/software as determined by the specific program selected by the student. Any student who plans to enroll in an approved career technical education (CTE) program at the post secondary level that requires occupational tools/equipment/software is eligible for this scholarship.

    Important: The scholarship application must be submitted electronically. No paper copies will be accepted. Incomplete or late applications will not be processed.

    This is a competitive scholarship; applications are scored based on quality of responses.

    This scholarship is provided through the Idaho Career Technical Education Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) organization. There are no Idaho State funds used. Scholarships are awarded without regard to race, color, sex, national origin, religion, age, disability, or genetic information.

    Eligibility Criteria

    To be eligible for this scholarship, all applicants must:

     - Be a legal resident of the state of Idaho.

    - Have graduated from an accredited Idaho public or private high school or equivalent.

    - Have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher during the previous two (2) years of school at an accredited high school or postsecondary school.

    - Taken a minimum of two (2) CTE courses or completed a career technical education pathway in high school.

    - Enroll as a full-time student, as defined by the school, in a CTE program at an approved technical college in Idaho, pursuing an undergraduate course of study leading to a first degree, technical certificate or another approved award.

    **If awarded this scholarship, the funds must be used towards equipment/tools/software directly related to the career and technical instructional program.

    *Please note: Recipient will receive a follow-up email for verification of what items were purchased with scholarship funds.

    Letter of recommendation from your Career Technical Student Organization Advisor, or your CTE Instructor.

    Copies of industry certifications (not required) Extra point for each certification*

    This application includes questions requiring short responses (100 word minimum).

    It is expected that candidates will submit their own work.

    This is an acknowledgement that students will complete the application on their own. Any application containing responses found to not be the applying student's original work will be disqualified. 

    While AI assistance in starting the application is allowed, the student’s “voice” must still be apparent. Evidence of too much reliance on AI, such as “fill-in-the-blank” prompts, formatting errors due to “cut-and-paste”, etc, will result in the application being rejected.
