This year marks 175 years since the Public Libraries Act - the landmark legislation that led to today's network of nearly 4,000 public libraries across the UK.
To mark the occasion, we’re creating a unique snapshot of library life in 2025 - and we’d love you to be part of it.
Between October 6 and 12, we want you to take a photo that shows what your library service looks like today. It could be a busy children’s storytime, a quiet reading space, a digital skills session – anything that captures the everyday impact of libraries.
Your photos don’t need to be technically perfect or artistic – we’re looking for real moments that show what libraries offer and how people use them.
We’ll bring all the images together in a special photo book and seal them in a time capsule, ready to be opened in another 175 years – in the year 2200!
