  • Consignors may enter one bull per class. A second bull in either class will only be accepted if 2 females are entered and the class has room. In the event that there are multiple second  entries in a class the second entries will be selected in a random draw.  If the class is full for one or both animals entered; and another class is open consignors will be given the option to enter that class. Entries will be taken on a first come basis.

    CANADIAN BISON ASSOCIATION NATIONAL SHOW & SALE RULES AND REGULATIONS

    ·        Exhibitors must be members in good standing of the Canadian Bison Association.

    ·        All entries are subject to the General Rules & Regulations of Canadian Western Agribition. Please refer to these rules and read them carefully. These are available online at http://www.agribition.com or contact the CBA office for a hard copy.

    ·        Liabilities: The consignor assumes all responsibilities regarding the above-mentioned terms and conditions of this show and sale including but not limited to; proper health testing and documentations, proper documentation of a positive pregnancy test (where applicable) and the documentation of age. The CBA acts only as agent and will assume NO responsibility in the event of injury or death or of a discrepancy between the buyer and consignor.

    ·        The Canadian Bison Association, its officers, agents, or employees, assume no responsibility for any animal before, during, or after the Canadian National Bison Show and Sale.

    ·        Import and export: farmed bison within all provinces except British Colombia are bovine and follow cattle regulations. For movement within Canada, a Record of Movement of Bison is required by the Canadian Bison Association.

    ·        Judges reserve the right to disqualify any animals from the show or sale if in their opinion the animal appears to be diseased, in an unhealthy condition or wrong age.

    ·        Incoming animals: Yard personnel will be available to unload animals between 1:00-6:00 PM Friday November 21st and 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Saturday November 22nd. Bison will be stalled in the Commercial Cattle Barn immediately west of the Stockman’s Arena. A $50 fee will be assigned to consignors who arrive outside the posted hours. Bison may begin release after the sale on Tuesday evening November 25th until 9:00 PM and between 6:00 -9:00 AM on November 26th. All bison must be out of the barns by NOON, Wednesday November 26th.

    ·        Insurance:
    Optional Incoming Transit and Premises Insurance is available at $0.65/$100 value.

    Coverage would begin once the animals are loaded at the consignor and would end once the animals are loaded to leave the sale premises. Coverage is provided for death or death rendered necessary by a veterinarian due to physical injury sustained because of transit or handling. A post-mortem will be required to determine the cause of loss. There is no coverage for sickness or disease.

    Losses that occur before the sale will be paid based on sale average of similar animals (age, sex) to a max of $7500 per head. Losses which occur after the sale will be paid based on animal’s selling price to a max of $7500 per head.

    Optional Outgoing Transit Insurance is available at:

    1001 – 2000 miles
    $1.30/$100

    NOTE: Judges and/or CBA appointed official, have the right to remove any animal that maybe injured or in an unhealthy condition at time of arrival or at any point during the show.

    Woods/Plains % score must be verified by the Neogen test.

  • Consignor may enter one bull in each class. To enter a second bull in a class the Consignor must enter at least two females in show.

    NOTE: If you enter a 2nd entry in a class, and end up not being able to enter as the class is full, Brennin will return your funds back to you via cheque at Regina.

    o  Show entries include a fee of $55.00/head which is paid to Canadian Western Agribition.

    o  GST payable on all fees.

  • ·        Commission: A commission of 8% (which includes 3% plus GST payable to Canadian Western Agribition & 1% to Canadian Bison Association) will be deducted from the gross sale price of each animal sold at the auction.

    ·        Weight: There are no weight requirements however the following are average weights from the last three years that consignors should consider when selecting animals for entry.

    ·        Yearling bulls – average weight 1125 pounds Yearling heifers - average weight 850 pounds

    ·        Bred two-year-old heifers - average weight 1125 pounds

    ·        Two-year-old bulls - average weight pounds 1500

    ·        Pen of Two Yearling Heifers- average weight 800 pounds

    ·        Pen of Two Bred two-year-old heifers - average weight 1100 pounds

    ·        Horns: Both horned and dehorned animals will be accepted. Broken bleeding horns upon arrival will not be accepted.

  • ·        Ear Tags: One (1) Canadian National Bison Show & Sale tag will be supplied by the CBA and assigned to each animal consigned to the Show & Sale. The Canadian National Bison Show and Sale tag MUST be accompanied by an approved CCIA tag (species specific i.e. series 3010). All ranch identification ear tags must be removed.

    ·        Tags placed backwards or in an illegible fashion: Judges have the right to refuse judgement and/or placing in class.

    ·        Certificate of Veterinary Inspection: Required for each animal and must be signed by an accredited veterinarian. The health certificate is to be forwarded to the CBA office. All animals must be treated for internal & external parasites within 30 days of the sale. There are no antiparasitic drugs marketed in Canada approved for use in bison. The selection of drugs to be used should be discussed with your veterinarian.

    ·        Pregnancy tests: An acceptable test performed by an accredited veterinarian and indicated on the Health Certificate. All Bred 2-year-olds must be verified as bred and safe with calf. All Yearling heifers must be verified as being open and should be kept isolated from all bulls 30 days prior and post pregnancy test.

    ·        Semen Test: All yearling and 2-year-old bulls must have a breeding evaluation preformed by an accredited veterinarian. A completed copy of the form is to be forwarded to the CBA office prior to delivery and the original hard copy must accompany the animal upon delivery.

    ·        Age: All bison ages must be verified by an accredited veterinarian and documented on the Health Certificate. A teething (mouthing) chart will be provided.

    ·        Brucellosis: - No testing required.

    ·        Tuberculosis: - No testing required.

  • The Consignor warrants that there has been no use of growth stimulants and that the animals shown or to be born to the animal shown are the product of natural breeding.
