Overview
The Winterville Marigold Festival, Inc., seeks artist submissions for artwork that will be the Featured Artwork of the 2026 festival. Artwork for consideration as our Featured Artwork must be two-dimensional and reproducible on posters, t-shirts, etc. Marigold- or Winterville-themed artwork is preferred.
Background
The Winterville Marigold Festival has showcased community spirit since 1970. Located seven miles from Athens, Winterville is Georgia’s “City of Marigolds,” and our festival is centered around our historic train depot. The Marigold Festival features juried arts & crafts, select food vendors, and music all day.
Levels of Recognition
One entry will be chosen as the 2026 Featured Artwork. A cash prize will be awarded for the art chosen to represent the 2026 Marigold Festival.
This entry will become the prominent visual representation of the 2026 Marigold Festival. Artwork will be featured and artist credited on:
- Festival poster
- Festival t-shirt and other souvenirs
- Cover of Festival special insert in The Flagpole, Athens’ arts & entertainment weekly publication
- Feature story on the artist in the Festival special insert
In addition, the artist will receive a complimentary booth from which to sell their art at the Festival and will receive promotion through other marketing avenues, including press releases and social media posts.
Artist Eligibility
This call is open to both professional and amateur artists.
Important Dates
Deadline to apply is 5:00 p.m., January 1, 2026.
Selected artist will be notified by January 15, 2026.
The 2026 Marigold Festival is Saturday, May 9, 2026.
Application Requirements
You may submit up to 3 digital images for consideration.
Submitted images should be at least 300 dpi in .jpg format.
Final file format required of the selected Featured Artwork must be vector (.ai, .eps, .pdf) with all text converted to outlines, or raster (.psd, .tiff, .eps, .pdf).
Selection Process
Selection of the Featured Artwork will be made by the Winterville Marigold Festival, Inc. Board of Directors.
Selection Criteria
Criteria will include use of marigolds and/or Winterville images in the artwork, and reproducibility of the artwork.
About Us
The Winterville Marigold Festival, Inc., is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to City improvement projects. Proceeds from the 2025 festival will be used for various beautification projects in the City.
