Thank you for applying to the Project Petals Youth Builders Environmental Fellowship! This inaugural fellowship recognizes youth leaders who are passionate about addressing the urgent challenges of climate change and environmental inequity in their communities. Recipients will receive a $500 seed grant to fund a project they are leading. Recipients are chosen by the Project Petals Fellowship Advisory Committee. The ideal applicants are young people from frontline and under-resourced communities who are eager to design community-driven environmental solutions, strengthen their leadership skills, and take an active role in building a more just, equitable, and sustainable future. Applicants to the Project Petals Youth Builders Environmental Fellowship should demonstrate a strong commitment to climate justice, environmental conservation, community engagement, and a clear vision for creating tangible impact on the ground.
The project can be garden spaces, urban farms, food projects, environmental conservation, or green space-related projects.
Fellowship Timeline
Duration: May-September
Fellows will participate in a four-month program that includes mentorship, project development, and a virtual training once a month.
Key Milestones:
Fellows are expected to attend one virtual training per month and complete a community-impact project by September.

- Your ties to and understanding of the community where the project will take place
- Your passion, dedication, and commitment to the project
Applications close on May 1st at 11:00 p.m. EST.
For the project -
- Level of support and engagement from the community
- Alignment with Project Petals’ values of equity, sustainability, and climate justice
- Potential impact and ability to create a positive ripple effect in the community
- Thoughtfulness and efficiency of the budget, demonstrating value and resourcefulness
- Opportunities for growth and long-term sustainability
- Clarity, creativity, and overall presentation
Types of Projects We Do Not Fund -
- Support for political parties, campaigns, or elections.
- Projects that promote religious beliefs or require participants to engage in faith-based activities.
