2025 WOEA Fall Forum Registration Form

The WOEA Officers and the Board of Directors cordially invite you to attend our Fall Forum, Wednesday, November 19, 2025 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Wayne High School, 5400 Chambersburg Rd., Huber Heights, OH 45424. This event is open to all elected OEA and WOEA delegates as well as all WOEA members.

Maximize your local association’s potential by attending this Fall Forum, with eight professional development sessions to choose from. This event not only provides training and discussions on hot topics in public education, but it also brings together leaders whose knowledge and experience you can tap into for the benefit of your local association. Take advantage of the education and networking opportunities available at the WOEA Fall Forum.

Check in at 4:30 and grab your dinner order of a box sandwich or salad. The OEA Briefing begins 5:00. The eight professional development sessions start at 6:00 and concude at 7:30. After the sessions there will be a drawing for give aways. Make sure to stop at the table for OEA Fund.

Am I Okay? Cultivating Calm in the Chaos - presented by Janaya Foster, Columbus Education Association and Dr. Taraja Shephard Allen, Ohio Education Association. Educators are expected to remain polite, positive, and productive—even when facing personal or professional challenges. This session offers a space to reflect on the emotional toll of that expectation and provides tools to navigate it. Participants will explore common stressors and triggers, complete a self-assessment of their emotional regulation practices, and engage in breath-work, mindfulness, and self-reflection activities. Attendees will leave with practical strategies to maintain professionalism and support student success, even in the midst of chaos.SERS - 4 Big Decisions at Retirement - presented by Cameron Vaughan, Member Education Coordinator, School Employees Retirement System of Ohio. This is a brief overview for SERS staff members answering questions: When? Plan of Payment? PLOP? Health Care?Managing and Negotiating Health Insurance - presented by Dennis Dugan, Collective Bargaining and Research Consultant, OEA. This session will take an in-depth look at key elements of health insurance, major insurance cost drivers and controls, and how local associations can engage to reduce costs while maintaining care.Closing Achievement Gaps - presented by Demetrice M. Davis, M.A.; OD cert., Education Policy and Practice Consultant, Minority Leadership Training Program (MLTP )Liaison. Participants in this session will be able to identify achievement gaps under Ohio’s current Accountability System. Participants will also review strategies and resources to consider in school improvement efforts to close achievement gaps.Educator Safety in the Workplace presented by Susan Janson, OEA Plan Attorney. Educator rights and safety in the workplace.I am a Building Rep-Now What? Presented by Jasmine Williams-Holston, Labor Relations Consultant, Region 4, Ohio Education Association. Being a Building Representative is more than just putting information on the school bulletin board or helping members find information in their contracts. At the end of this session, you will be a trained Building Association Representative so that you can assist and advocate for your fellow members while supporting your association leadership in this process. We will cover what to do when a member is called into a meeting, assisting in writing grievances and other ways to support your colleagues and membersInclusion: It's Not More Work, It's Different Work! Presented by Daria DeNoia, OEA Education Policy and Practice Consultant, M.Ed., NBCT. Inclusion is not just about students with special needs. All educators have classrooms filled with students from different backgrounds, and with different interests, talents, and skillsets. Those students also have varying physical, emotional, developmental, and sensory needs. How can educators ensure that they are meeting each student's needs and creating an inclusive community where diversity is celebrated, and all students have the opportunity to learn? Drawing upon the work of educator Shelley Moore, we will explore the evolution of "inclusion" in schools, consider learners from a strengths-based frame, identify flexibilities in curriculum, brainstorm how to make learning accessible, and consider inclusive supports and reasonable goals for learnersPresidential Roundtable presented by Mary Hunnewell, WOEA President; Mindy Campbell, Bethel Education Association President; Kimberly Barnhart, Huber Heights Education Association President; Brenda Abels, Huber Heights Education Association Vice President; Katie McAbee, OEA LRC Intern and President of Hamilton Classroom Teachers Association. A place for new and seasoned Presidents to come together for collaboration, share perspectives, and brainstorm solutions to issues within your Local with WOEA Leaders and an OEA Labor Relations Consultant Intern.
