STAIR Fall 2025 Substitute Tutor Application
STAIR is a once weekly, one-on-one literacy tutoring program for 2nd and 3rd graders. STAIR is offering both virtual and in-person tutoring this semester. STAIR substitute tutors fill in at in person tutoring sites on an at-need basis when tutors are either unable to attend a regularly scheduled session or when a makeup session occurs on a day different to a regularly scheduled session. Substitute tutors who have not tutored with STAIR before may be asked to complete some tutor training remotely.

Tutor Agreement
As a part of the STAIR team, we ask that you make a commitment, to the best of your ability, to protect the interests of STAIR and the students we serve. Please read and agree to these expectations.
I understand that in order to serve as a tutor I am required to pass a background check. Even if I have previously passed a STAIR background check, a new one may be required.

STAIR’s curriculum was designed to help students learn the necessary grade-level foundational literacy skills. I understand I am expected to follow the provided curriculum and only make changes or supplements with the approval and assistance of STAIR staff.

I will not offer academic suggestions to parents (i.e. your child should be evaluated for an IEP, your child needs to be retained in his/her current grade, etc). This will be handled by the STAIR Program Director or staff.

Tutor conduct is a reflection on the STAIR program; thus it is important to act in an ethical and professional manner. I understand that if my conduct is determined to be detrimental to the program, STAIR reserves the right to terminate my services.
