  • The Innovation in Healthcare Quality and Safety Summit (IHQS) Scientific Committee is seeking submissions of research and case report abstracts to be presented at the conference. Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to share their abstract as a poster or oral presentation (virtually).

    • Innovations in healthcare quality, delivery, and access to care

    • All domains of quality improvement including safety, effectiveness, efficiency, timeliness, equity, and patient-centered care

    • Other relevant topics

    The Scientific Committee will evaluate the abstracts based upon originality and appeal of the scientific work. Selected abstracts with highest scores will be offered an oral (podium) presentation, and the other accepted abstracts will be presented as poster presentations. 

    All accepted abstracts will be published as a Conference Proceedings in the Global Journal on Quality and Safety in Heatlhcare (JQSH), and a 30% discount on publication charges will be provided if publishing a full manuscript in JQSH.

    Please note that all oral presentations must be pre-recorded using a provided PowerPoint template, and the videos will be shared on the knowledge hub, Innoscholar.com, after the conference.

  • SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

    Abstracts must be submitted according to the following instructions.

    3. Complete the template carefully, filling in all required information. 
    4. Attach your abstract below (required). You may attach 1 table or figure to accompany your abstract (optional).
    5. Answer all required questions below (presenting author information, abstract title and type, preferred category and format).
    6. Accept the terms and conditions, sign electronically, and submit. 
  • SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

    Please read before submitting your abstract.
  • AUTHORS:

    o   NUMBER OF AUTHORS: A maximum of 8 authors may be entered on the submission form.

    o   AUTHORSHIP CRITERIA: Do not add other co-authors without their prior agreement. Do not include anyone who does not meet the criteria for authorship as defined by the ICMJE.

    o   AUTHOR NAMES: For each author: include the first name, followed by middle initial if applicable, then last name.

    o   AFFILIATIONS: Include each author’s affiliation (i.e., company, university, or hospital) with the city, state (if applicable), and country. A maximum of two affiliations can be designed per author.

    o   DISCLOSURES: Authors should disclose any relevant financial support, relationships, or activities that may be perceived as a potential conflict of interest.

    o   EMAIL: The submitting author must provide a valid email address in case there are any queries following submission of the abstract. 

  • FORMAT:

    o   TEMPLATE: Use the provided template to prepare the abstract (see download link above). Abstracts submitted without using the template may be returned.

    o   LENGTH: The abstract text should not exceed 400 words. Text exceeding this limit may be truncated due to space limitations. 

    o   STRUCTURE: The abstract should be a brief structured summary of the paper stating the Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusion. State the objective or aim of the project in the introduction. Mention ethical clearance and consent in the methods. Report only the key findings in the results section. Conclusion should be one or two sentences, relating back to the objective / aim as stated in the introduction.

    o   TABLES/FIGURES: One brief table or figure (high resolution image file, 300 dpi) is allowed. This should be uploaded as a separate file. No third-party material may be submitted with abstract. Any additional tables or figures may be excluded from the published abstract.

    o   STYLE: Abstracts must be written in English. Abbreviations should be defined at first mention and avoid using uncommon abbreviations. Avoid using brand names. Avoid including information that requires a citation or reference. Dates should be given in Month Day, Year format.

  • TERMS AND CONDITIONS

    Please read this information completely before submitting your abstract.
  • o   FINAL DECISION: The scientific committee reserves the right to make the final decision about abstract acceptance and its scheduling into the program based on topics and time constraints. Acceptance of the abstract for publication does not guarantee an invitation to present at the conference. 

    o  WITHDRAWING YOUR ABSTRACT: Abstract submissions may be withdrawn prior to receiving a final decision from the Scientific Committee. After the submission deadline passes, requests to withdraw can be submitted to ihciabstracts@gmail.com. Abstracts cannot be withdrawn within 30 days of the conference or after publication. 

    o   MEETING REGISTRATION AND EXPENSES: All presenters must register to attend the conference within 2 weeks of acceptance of the abstract and be present at the time of the conference. All expenses associated with the preparation, submission, and presentation of the abstract are the responsibility of the presenting author(s), including travel and lodging. Presenters must not use the session as a marketing opportunity for products or equipment.

    o   RESPONSIBILITY: Authors are responsible for the content submitted. All authors should review and approve the final abstract prior to submission. The presenting author should register in the meeting.

    o   COPYRIGHTS: By submitting this abstract, the authors certify that it has not been published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The authors grant an exclusive license to publish the submitted abstract to Innovative Healthcare Institute (IHCI), Cincinnati, OH, USA. IHCI shall have the exclusive right to produce and publish the abstract in print and electronic media including rights to reprint, translate, and distribute throughout the world. The abstract will be simultaneously licensed under an open access Creative Commons license (CC-BY), which permits authors to reuse or adapt the abstract in future work.

    o   PUBLICATION: Accepted abstracts may be published as-is with Conference Proceedings in the Global Journal on Quality and Safety in Healthcare (jqsh.org) and are therefore embargoed until the date of presentation or publication, whichever comes first.  The publisher reserves the right to make minor edits for Journal style and format and correct obvious typing errors in the submitted abstract. These edits will not alter the intended meaning.

    o   ELECTRONIC SIGNATURES: This transaction may be conducted by electronic means, and the parties authorize that their electronic signatures act as their legal signatures of this Agreement. This Agreement will be considered signed by a party when their electronic signature is added below. Such signature shall be treated in all respects as having the same effect as an original handwritten signature.
