The Art of Listening Deeply and Calling In
Dates: 4 Tuesdays, October 14 to Nov 4
Time: 2:30 – 4:30 pm or 7 - 9 pm
Place: BVU Commons
Leadership: Mark Green
The Art of learning to listen deeply in an ever increasingly polarized world will be a critical skill for us to learn if we are to overcome the barriers to human community. Yet to learn to “call someone in” as opposed to “calling someone out” is a much harder task for those who seek justice and right relationships. And yet to truly be agents of transformation, we will need to learn to listen deeply, find common ground, and offer alternative narratives to the polarizing ones currently on the table.
These 4 sessions will help us explore theory and practice through the lens of folks like Margaret Wheatley, Loretta Ross, and others. Handouts for reading and small group practice, and discussion will enable you to wrestle with these questions and more. 2 separate class times will be offered for you to choose from – afternoon or evening. A minimum of 10 people is needed for either time to be a go.Registration in advance is mandatory.
