  • What is Pure Play Fest?

Pure Play Fest is our take on field day, rooted in the joy of West African and Caribbean culture. It feels like childhood afternoons of playing soccer barefoot, racing cousins in the yard, and cooling off with food and drinks that brought everyone together.

At the festival you will find soccer matches, relay races, tug of war, Afrobeats and dancehall blasting through the speakers, and food vendors serving flavors that remind us of home. The music and games set the energy but the food is what ties it all together and keeps people coming back for more.

Pure Play Fest is a space to laugh, eat, dance, and remember the joy of play in the most colorful way.

  • Products We Are Looking For

We want food that feels like home and also makes people curious to try something new. Dishes that carry the flavors of West Africa and the Caribbean are at the top of our list.

Think smoky suya, jollof rice, puff puff, pepper soup, plantains, patties, jerk chicken, doubles, roti, and all the drinks that cool you down on a hot day, like sorrel, hibiscus, ginger beer, or fresh fruit juices. Street food, comfort food, and creative twists on classics all have a place here.

We are also looking for vendors who bring color and personality to their setup so that every plate, every cup, and every bite feels like part of the festival experience.

  • Products We Are Not Looking For
We are not looking for pre-packaged or mass-produced food. Everything should feel fresh and made with care. This is a space for flavors that carry culture and community, not generic items you can find at the store.

  • Permits and Insurance

All vendors must follow health, safety, and city guidelines in order to participate in Pure Play Fest.
Every food vendor must have a Temporary Food Facility (TFF) Permit. Food trucks with a Mobile Food Facility license also need to be approved for our event date. Each vendor is required to carry their own liability insurance and list the City of Los Angeles as additionally insured. Proof of both permits and insurance will be collected before the event.
