  • 2026 Michigan FFA Talent Audition Application

  • Please note: This application has been updated to an online form to streamline the signature process and make submission easier. If you started in the Word document version, you can copy and paste the information into the online form. If you have the Word.doc version completed and would like to submit that, please send it to roger187@msu.edu in an email.

    Qualification Procedures

    • Submit this application and a video audition of the student(s) presenting their talent performance
    • The video should be unedited, uploaded to YouTube, and submitted as a link in this form
    • A panel of judges will determine the talent that will be selected to perform on-stage at State Convention based on the video auditions
    • All performers will be notified by early February if they are invited to perform on stage at State Convention

    Video Upload Procedures

    • The YouTube video privacy setting must be set to unlisted so judges can view the audition. Here is a link that explains how to upload a YouTube video.

    State Convention Procedures

    • If selected to perform at State Convention, your talent performance must be the same as what was submitted in your audition video
    • If you are selected to perform on stage, you must report backstage by the designated report time. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit of your on-stage performance.

    Performance Song Guidelines and Requirements

When selecting your songs, please remember FFA is a welcoming place for all. Please review your lyrics thoroughly to ensure you will be singing the “radio edit” of the song, if there is one. Though a song may not contain any curse words, the content of the lyrics may still be inappropriate for this setting.

Songs referring to excessive drinking, drug use, domestic violence, sexually explicit topics, and violence toward others are not suitable for the Michigan FFA Convention stage. They will not be approved or may require lyric changes. We ask that song choices do not have overt religious or political undertones.

Songs that contain curse words or inappropriate words (such as an alcoholic beverage, smoking, etc.) can be modified or have a word changed to meet Michigan FFA requirements. For example, in Wagon Wheel, the lyrics “I caught a trucker out of Philly, had a nice long toke” should be changed to “I caught a trucker out of Philly, had a nice long talk” or something similar.

All songs to be performed at convention will be reviewed and approved by the Michigan FFA Association. This is to ensure that each act’s performance is appropriate for the Michigan FFA Convention audience and is consistent with the goals, purpose and standards put in place by the Michigan FFA Association.

    On-Stage Remarks Guidelines

    • Introductions: Students may state only their name(s) and FFA chapter.
    • Closing Remarks: After the performance, students may offer a brief thank you.

No additional remarks are permitted before or after performances.

    Attire Guidelines

Unless specific attire is required for the performance (e.g., dance costumes or uniforms), all participants are expected to wear official FFA dress while on stage.

If you have questions regarding guidelines and requirements, please contact roger187@msu.edu.
