• OBA Provincial Band Festival 2026: Registration Form

  • NB. As of 10:00am on September 29, 2025, we are almost at capacity for the festival. Any further registrations will be placed on a wait list in priority order. Historically, there are usually several drop-outs and some wait-listed bands do end up being able to participate.

We do not require payment from wait-listed ensembles until there is room for them in the schedule. Please do not pay from the invoice that is generated upon submission until you receive further instructions.

  • The OBA Provincial Band Festival has long provided band students across Southern Ontario an enriching, educational festival of the highest quality. It is our distinct pleasure to present the 24th Annual OBA Provincial Band Festival, at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto.

We have worked very hard at making this festival unique, striving to provide both students and band directors with the very best one-day educational experience possible. We continue to work at improving this event and we encourage your feedback and support.

We would also like to encourage you to continue supporting our local sponsors without whom this festival would not be possible.

We wish you the very best through the start of this new school year and look forward to seeing you at the festival in February.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at pbf@onband.ca .

    Before you begin:

Only one registration form should be completed per school or organization. This form allows registration for up to three directors and up to five ensembles from the same school/organization.

Note: In order to participate in the festival, directors must be current OBA members with a membership valid through June 2026 (i.e., if you haven't renewed your membership since September 2025, you will need to renew as part of this registration). Schools registering three or more ensembles for the festival must register at least two directors who are current OBA members (through June 2026). You can use this form to register directors for membership or renew expired memberships.

    What you will need:

    • School/organization contact information, including the name and e-mail address of a principal or other primary administrator
    • Contact information and OBA membership status for each director you wish to register
    • Ensemble information for each ensemble you wish to register, including preferred performance times, number of musicians, and repertoire selections (repertoire can also be submitted or updated at a later date)
    • Enough time to complete the form in its entirety (allow 10-15 minutes per ensemble if you have all the above information prepared), as the form will not save any data until you press "Submit" at the end.

  • Ensemble Registration

You can register up to five (5) ensembles using this registration form.
  • Scheduling

Ensemble registration will be open until the festival is full or November 15th, 2025, whichever comes first. After the close of registration, we will begin the scheduling process. Time slots for performances will be provided according to submitted requests on a first-come, first-served basis, along with reasonable consideration for schools traveling great distances. Early registration submissions will have a great chance of receiving their desired performance times and dates. Our goal is to provide the festival schedule to everyone as soon as possible so that you may book your busses.
  • Refund Policy

Ensembles who withdraw from the festival before December 15th, 2025 will receive a full refund, excluding membership fees. We cannot guarantee refunds for late withdrawals; however, we will make every effort to find a replacement band if your school needs to withdraw from the festival after this date. We will do our best to accommodate late arrivals due to bussing issues or inclement weather; however, we cannot guarantee a make-up time or refund if you have to miss your scheduled performance day/time. If inclement weather results in widespread bus cancellations, we will attempt to reschedule ensembles to the extent possible.
  • Performance Considerations

All ensembles will be allotted 15 minutes for B100 and B200 groups, 20 minutes for B300 and B400 groups, and 25 minutes for B500 and B600 groups. This time includes setup, tuning/soundcheck, and transitions between pieces. In general, we strongly recommend playing no more than two pieces at any level, or in some cases even one more substantial piece will be sufficient. More details on repertoire requirements can be found below. Ensembles will have at least 20 minutes in the warmup room before coming on stage. Once on stage, please limit your sound check to a short chorale or tuning sequence of no more than one minute in length. After your performance, you will move to a separate room for your clinic, which will be approximately 30 minutes in length. More details on all aspects of the festival are included in the 2026 PBF Director's Guide, which is available on our website.
  • Ensemble Information - Ensemble #1

Please provide information below for the first ensemble you wish to register.
  • Preferred Performance Time - Ensemble #1

Please choose your first, second, and third choice for a performance time slot for your first ensemble. The morning sessions run from approximately 8:00am to 12:00pm, the afternoon sessions from approximately 12:00pm to 4:30pm, and the evening sessions from approximately 5:00pm to 8:30pm.
  • Repertoire Information - Ensemble #1

This time includes setup, tuning/soundcheck, and transitions between pieces. In general, we strongly recommend playing no more than two pieces at any level, or in some cases even one more substantial piece will be sufficient. At least one selection must be from either the 2026 OBA PBF syllabus or the 2026 MusicFest Canada concert band syllabus at the desired grade level for adjudication (i.e., the grade level at which the ensemble is registered). The other selection(s) should be of contrasting material and should be at or around the same grade level as the syllabus selection(s). Finally, at least one of your selections must include substantial lyrical material. This can be a piece that is entirely lyrical or one that contains a substantial lyrical section or movement. Please see the 2026 PBF Director's Guide for more detailed instructions on repertoire selection and timing. If you are unsure of your selections at this time, please enter "TBD" in the appropriate number of fields.

Notes: If you are intending on taking your ensemble to MusicFest Nationals, that festival will require you to perform at least one selection from their syllabus (titles which are only on our PBF syllabus will not satisfy their requirement).  The syllabus requirement for our festival can be satisfied by choosing a title from either syllabus list, but the OBA only provides adjudicator scores for titles from our PBF syllabus, so you will be asked to provide two copies of the score for any pieces which are not on our syllabus, including any titles that are only on the MusicFest syllabus.

  • Non-Rating Performance Option

Some directors really enjoy the festival but would prefer not to receive an adjudicator rating (e.g., Gold, Silver, Bronze). If this is your choice, please note that your band will still have a full performance followed by a regular clinic, with the same adjudicators and services as all the other ensembles in the festival. Please note, however, that non-rated ensembles will not be eligible for festival awards or an invitation to MusicFest Canada: The Nationals.
