Judging Opportunities at the San Diego Conference & Exhibition
There are multiple ways to get involved as a judge at the San Diego Conference & Exhibition. Volunteers can choose to participate in one or more of the following competitions:
1. Business Plan Competition
The Business Plan Competition challenges student teams to develop, present, and defend a comprehensive business plan. Judges play a vital role in evaluating both the written and live components of the competition.
Business Overview Document
Review and score each team’s 4-page overview, which will be shared prior to the event. Judges are encouraged to complete scoring in advance, but time will be provided on the event day if needed.
Live Business Plan Presentations
Observe student presentations during the competition.
Engage in a Q&A session with each team.
Score presentations using the provided VE rubric.
2. Sales Pitch Competition (Trade Show)
Student representatives deliver quick, persuasive pitches to highlight their company’s product or service. Judges will: Listen to live pitches at the Trade Show.
Evaluate presentation skills, clarity, and persuasiveness.
Provide scores based on the competition rubric.
3. Booth Design Competition (Trade Show)
Companies showcase their products and services through interactive trade show booths. Judges will: Visit booths on the Trade Show floor.
Assess creativity, professionalism, and effectiveness of booth displays.
Provide scores using the competition rubric.
