The Virginia Chess Federation (VCF)--the US Chess State Affiliate for Virginia--thanks you for your interest and participation in the Northern Virginia Open. This annual event has a $7,200 Prize Fund and has 100 US Chess Grand Prix Points up for grabs!

Registering and paying in advance saves you time, allowing you to avoid the "last minute line" at the tournament site.

TO REGISTER: Fill out the form below and submit payment using the secure PayPal payment website.   You can either use your Credit Card or your PayPal account. Required information is indicated with a red asterix (*). Registration is complete and your information is submitted to tournament organizers as soon as your PayPal payment is processed.

ENTRY FEE:
- $130 through Saturday, NOv 15th. Increases to $160 on Sunday, Nov 16th. $190 starting Thursday Nov 20th and at the tournament.
- We will retain $10 from every withdrawal prior to Round 1, no refunds after Round 1 begins.
- On-site Registration 3-6:45PM Friday Nov 21st, and 7:30-9:15AM on Saturday Nov 22nd. Players wanting to enter after these deadline risk missing the next round of the tournament.
Championship and Under 1800 Sections play Friday - Sunday

NOVICE Section plays on Saturday and Sunday only.

The Championship and Under 1800 Sections are FIDE and US Chess rated.

The Novice Section is US Chess rated only.

The NO-SHOW / Default rule for the main event games is 60-minutes for late players.

All players must be members of the U.S. Chess Federation. US Chess memberships are available on-site. Cash, check or credit cards accepted. All Virginia Residents are required to be members of the VA Chess Federation, these also are available on site.

Spectators are allowed in the Playing Room, but may be limited due to space.Face Masks are OPTIONAL, please bring your own.I am not allowed to eat FOOD at the board other than "quiet" snacks. My drinks (other than water in cups provided at the site) must be bottled with caps or in personal water/beverage bottles.Sets, Boards and Clocks will be provided for ALL GAMES, but players may use their own.I will bring a pen or pencil to write with. No Electronic Notation Devices allowed in the Championship or Amateur Sections.
