Welcome to the SkillReady Host Partner Program
SkillReady Solutions Pty Ltd (ACN 689 418 059 | ABN 166 894 180 59) connects education with industry through structured, short-term workplace exposure programs across Australia.
About the Program
The Volunteer Industry Exposure Program is a structured, short-term unpaid placement where international students and young professionals attend a real workplace for up to 10 hours per week for a maximum of three months.
This is not employment. It is an educational exposure opportunity designed to give participants the dignity of real-world experience and a fair chance to “have a go” in a safe environment, while building confidence, workplace awareness, and access to local industry networks.
- For hosts: Access to skilled human resources (legitimate learners preparing for the workforce).
- Admin made easy: A structured, compliance-managed process with administration handled by SkillReady.
- Support package: SkillReady provides a support package (get paid to host) as recognition of resource allocation (e.g., admin use, amenity use, or minor PPE usage). The value is confirmed in writing for each placement.
Host Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide a safe workplace consistent with WHS obligations (clear exits, first aid kit, emergency procedures).
- Deliver a basic site induction on Day 1 (site tour, exits, fire safety, PPE requirements, supervisor contact, incident reporting, expectations).
- Ensure the participant is supervised at all times while on site.
- Provide opportunities to observe and safely assist with low-risk tasks appropriate to the workplace.
- Notify SkillReady immediately of any incidents, injuries, or near misses (incident templates provided).
What Hosts Are Not Required To Do
- Deliver formal training sessions, lessons, or assessments.
- Provide structured presentations beyond the first-day induction.
- Treat the participant as an employee, or allocate unsupervised/unsafe work.
- Provide long-term mentoring, performance reviews, or academic evaluations.
Insurance & Safety
All SkillReady placements are fully insured. Each participant is covered as follows:
- Public Liability — covers third-party injury or property damage.
- Personal Accident Cover — covers participant injury, including direct travel to and from placement.
- PPE — participants must arrange their own PPE suitable for the workplace. (Hosts are encouraged to provide minimal PPE if required — e.g., disposable gloves or a hair net.)
Every participant must also complete the SkillReady Safety Induction & Quiz before commencing placement. This induction covers:
- Workplace health and safety basics & reporting procedures
- Professional conduct, etiquette, and self-awareness
- Zero-tolerance policy on drugs, alcohol, and illegal activity
- Respect for Australian values, workplace expectations, and lawful diversity
The quiz ensures participants understand their responsibilities and are placement-ready from day one.
