    Recycle & Shine

Calling all Filcom Organizations, Students, Youth Clubs, and Independent Designers throughout the Kingdom!

ECO RUNWAY is a creative fashion competition organized by SAGA (Services & Advocacies Group of Artists), designed to raise awareness about the importance of recycling and upcycling. With the theme, "RECYCLE & SHINE: An Evening of Recycled Fashion," this event aims to engage the entire FILIPINO COMMUNITY on November 14 by transforming waste materials into wearable works of art.

This initiative is aligned with environmental sustainability and protection, providing a unique platform for local designers and artists to showcase their creativity and promote a greener future.

The objective of this competition is to create garments from recycled materials. All participants are expected to be truthful about the materials used.

    OBJECTIVE
Demonstrate that fashion can be creative, sustainable, and meaningful by using recycled and upcycled materials. The competition consists of two segments: a Streetwear Challenge and a Finale – Elemental Inspiration Couture.

    Categories
    Student Category

For students ages 9–12 years old.
Only one female model will be dressed.
    Materials must be 80–100% recycled/upcycled.

    Adult Group Category

Open to Designers, Organizations, or Clubs.
    One entry = 1 designer + 2 models (1 female, 1 male).
Both models must be wearing recycled/upcycled outfits.
Models must be 17 years old and above.

    Competition Segments
    Opening Streetwear Challenge

Casual, wearable, and modern designs made from recycled materials.
Objective: Show that everyday fashion can be stylish and eco-friendly.

Finale – Elemental Inspiration (Gown & Suit Presentation)

High-fashion gown and suit pieces inspired by the four elements: Fire, Water, Air, Earth.
The element is for inspiration only and can be shown through color, texture, shape, or symbolism—it does not have to be literal.
Must still be made from 80–100% recycled and upcycled materials.

Objective: Showcase the creativity, transformation of recycled materials, and storytelling by the designer.

    Garment Requirements
All designs must be 100% original for this event.
Garments must not have been previously shown or entered in other competitions.
The outfit must be safe and not dangerous.
The use of construction aids (thread, glue, tape, Velcro, bonding) is allowed but should not be the primary material.
Thrifted or second-hand items are allowed if they are thoroughly altered (upcycled).

    Disqualification
Materials are not recycled/upcycled = automatic disqualification.
Dishonesty (e.g., purchasing a ready-made gown and pretending it is upcycled).
Garments that are overly revealing or against the culture of Saudi Arabia.

    Material Verification
A brief description or photo of the materials used before construction is required.
