  • Workshop Description:

    Daumenreise is an experimental animation project since many years. During FAB, the 48th edition of the Daumenreise films will be created!

    In four sessions during four days the workshop participants create a collaborative animation film about Berlin. You choose your favourite spot and motive, your special site or phenomenon about Berlin. Then - like in flipbooks - you draw your personal Daumenreise animation about this spot on small paper cards in the studio. In the workshop team we decide the order and each person draws an animated transformation from the own drawing into the next. Once drawn, we bring the animations back to the city by photographing them on the streets of Berlin using a smartphone. No animation or drawing skills are required to participate in this workshop. We aim to present the film in the end of the festival during the award ceremony.

    Please bring ideas for things, buildings, food, filming locations etc. about Berlin!

    The workshop is held in english language, whereas Maya speaks Japanese and German, too.

  • General Informationen

    The Festival of Animation Berlin is pleased to host this workshop, that will be led by Stuttgart-based animator, artist and director Maya Yonesho.

    As the number of participants is limited to 12, we ask that you register by 21. September 2025. Workshop participation costs 25,00€, free admission for students.

    Thu. Sept 25: 3:30 – 7pm @ silent green Cinema Betonhalle
    Fri. Sept 26 2:30 – 7pm @ silent green Atelier 1
    Sat. Sept 27 2:30 – 8pm @ silent green Atelier 1
    Sun. Sept 28 10am – 2:30pm @ silent green Atelier 2

    Please try to attend all of them and get in touch with us (l.thiele@fa-berlin.com), if  you cannot attend all sessions or can attend them only partially.
