  • This registration form is for signing up to dance at all three of SHDA's competitions for our 2025-2026 indoor competition season. 

    Note: By using this form you are registering for all dances for all three competitions, excluding special dances like Trophy Fling or Choreograpy, which can be added separately. If you have a Primary or Beginner dancer and would like to sign up for individual dances, please use the single-competition registration form individually throughout the season.

    Season registration is only available until Sunday, October 12th. All entries after October 12th will be collected on an individual competition basis.

    Dancers will be asked to submit their music prior to the competition. Dancers should also have a copy of their music on a USB drive or their phone as a backup.

    Premier Dancers Under 12 will dance short steps as follows:
    Fling (4), Sword (2/1), Seann Triubhas (3/1), Sailors Hornpipe (4)

    Premier Dancers Over 12 will dance long steps as follows:
    Fling (6), Sword (3/1), Seann Triubhas (4/2), Sailors Hornpipe (5)

    Beginner/Novice Trophy Flings - $10.00/dancer
    Intermediate Spring Special - $10.00/dancer
    Premier Choreography - $25.00/solo

    ScotDance USA Fee - $6.00/dancer ($2.00/dancer/competition)

    Annual SHDA Membership Fee - $50.00/family

  • Competition Rules

  • Rules and Entry Information:

    1. The dance competition will be governed by the rules and regulations of the RSOBHD and ScotDance USA.
    2. Each Dancer must present a valid ScotDance registration card at check in to receive their competitor number. Pre-premier cards will be collected and returned after awards.
    3. Each dancer must be a member of SHDA to compete.
    4. Registration must be submitted in advance, no field entries. The deadline to enter is Sunday, October 12, 2025; regular price admission will close at 11:59pm. Any entries received after this date must pay double entry fees and may not be included in the program.
    5. Competition age groups will be decided at the close of entries. Age is determined as of day of competition. Dancers will compete in inverse order of entry – first to enter will be last to dance.
    6. Competition information, including platform schedules, will be distributed via email the Wednesday before the competition and posted online at www.SeattleHighland.org.
    7. Dancers must appear when their group is called or forfeit their chance to dance in that event. Dancers will be asked to fill-in for reels based on date of entry, the last to enter will be asked first to fill-in as needed.
    8. Female, Male, Family, and Private Change areas will be clearly marked. Dancers will be given plenty of time for costume changes. Dancers must remain in costume to receive awards.
    9. Medals will be awarded in all groups except Premier dancers 16 years and older will receive cash prizes instead of medals. Aggregate Trophies will be awarded in all groups except Primary. Perpetual Trophies and Keeper Plaques will be awarded as specified in the program. We require an adult signature before Perpetual Trophies can be taken from the premises.
    10. The decision of the adjudicator is final.
    11. Any protest must be submitted in writing to the competition organizer, properly signed and accompanied by a fee of $25. It must be made immediately following the competition. If the protest is sustained the fee will be returned.
    12. Three month rule: Judges who conduct teaching or coaching classes, seminars or any other forms of tuition (eg by video conferencing), may not adjudicate any competitor who has attended any of these classes for a period of three months after the last class, workshop or any other form of tuition that the competitor has attended. It is the responsibility of the dancer to check on judges prior to the competition.

    REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR SEASON ENTRIES IS OCTOBER 12, 2025.

  • Admissions is $5 per person, excluding dancers, children and seniors. Volunteers and Lifetime Members receive free admission as well.  You may pay for admissions in advance or at the door (cash or card) upon entry.

  • As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we depend on the generosity of Highland dance enthusiasts to keep us going.   • SHDA is offering good luck messages for purchase in the competition program. Each message is $5/message/competition and proceeds go to benefit future competitions and workshops.
