    The Aquaculture Stewardship Council’s Sustainable Seafood Awards Australia are the highest recognition of excellence in responsible aquaculture. Each award celebrates leadership, innovation, and commitment to the Aquaculture Stewardship Council’s mission: transforming aquaculture towards the highest standards of environmental sustainability and social responsibility. To be recognised with an ASC Award is a mark of prestige and credibility, signalling to industry, peers, and consumers that you are shaping the future of responsible seafood.

  • ASC BEST RESPONSIBLE SEAFOOD RETAILER

    This award recognises a retailer demonstrating exceptional leadership in responsible seafood sourcing, particularly through ASC-certified and labelled products. The winning retailer will show strong policy commitments, robust growth in ASC-labelled offerings across categories, and effective communication of ASC messaging to customers and stakeholders.

    3. Communications and Engagement.

  • Criteria 1. Sourcing Policy & Commitments

    Demonstrable commitment and/or preference for sourcing ASC certified seafood across various categories (fresh, canned, frozen, deli counter, pet food). Either in the way of a policy commitment, evidenced long term strategic plan or public commitment.

    Offers a diverse, growing range of ASC-labelled products, including private label and proprietary brands.
  • Guidance

    1. Contact ASCAustralia@asc-aqua.org if you have not already recieved a copy of the Data Submission Form via email. 
    2. Once recieved, download the file to your device.
    3. Read the instructions on Tab 1.
    4. Complete Tab 2 and 3 in full.
    5. Save to your device and upload to the 'File Upload' section.                                                                                                                                                                                               Please note data from 1st January 2025 - 31st December 2025 should be uploaded. You can begin working on this Jotform and then upload your data in January 2026 prior to final submission.

  • Criteria 3. Communications & Engagement

    The Best Responsible Seafood Retailer proudly showcases and clearly communicates its ASC-certified seafood range, for both private label and proprietary brands.
  • Please submit a short case study that outlines how you have communicated the ASC-label and programme across key touchpoints. Include examples across:

    Internal Communications and Staff Education
    Describe how the ASC programme has been introduced within your organisation. You may wish to include internal training, onboarding, or educational tools used to help teams understand ASC’s certification and responsible aquaculture.

    Website, Owned Channels and In Store Touchpoints
    Explain how the ASC label or programme is communicated through your website, digital channels or physical store environment. This might include shelf signage, blog content, social posts or online product pages that provide context or education.

    Advertising and Campaigns
    If the ASC label has appeared in any advertising or wider campaign activity, please describe how it was included. Include any collabaorations and activities that support the ASC mission.

    Points will be awarded for clear evidence of engagement in each of these areas. You are encouraged to attach supporting examples such as staff training materials, point-of-sale assets, website content, social media posts, or campaign creative that feature or reference the ASC label or programme. The judges will be looking for authenticity, clarity, and consistency in how ASC has been represented and communicated to both your teams and your customers.

  • ASC BEST RESPONSIBLE PRODUCER

    This award recognises an Australia-based ASC-certified producer demonstrating outstanding performance in environmental and social value creation, continuous improvement and/or innovation, communications, community engagement and storytelling. The winner will be a producer demonstrating continuous improvement who is actively setting a benchmark for responsible aquaculture.

    Judging of this award will be completed against three criteria

    1. Environmental and Social Value Creation

    2. Continuous Improvement and/or Innovation

    3. Communications, Engagement & Story Telling.

  • Criteria 1. Environmental and Social Value Creation

    The producer must demonstrate measurable efforts to create environmental and social value, mitigate impact, and contribute to broader sustainability outcomes.
  • Guidance

    Submit a short case study (200–500 words) and 2–3 supporting images that demonstrate your impact. Judges will look for: Clear reduction or mitigation of environmental impacts, evidence of meaningful community engagement or development and participation in collaborative sustainability or conservation initiatives.

    The producer actively pursues innovation or continuous improvement that exceeds the baseline requirements of ASC certification.
  • Guidance

    Submit a short case study (200–500 words) and 2–3 images showcasing a significant innovation or improvement initiative. Examples may include: new technologies, innovations, processes, or systems; animal welfare improvements; projects or collaborations that go beyond ASC requirements; active involvement in industry R&D or pre-competitive initiatives.

    Describe how the ASC programme has been introduced within your organisation. You may wish to include internal training, onboarding, or educational tools used to help teams understand ASC certification, responsible aquaculture practices, and how these connect to your operations.

    Website and Owned Channels
    Explain how the ASC label or programme is communicated through your website, digital platforms, or corporate communications. This might include blog content, social media posts, product information, or sustainability updates that help stakeholders and customers understand your commitment to ASC standards.

    Label, Advertising and Campaigns
    If you have collaborated with the ASC, put the ASC label on products or participated in any advertising, trade activity, or broader campaign (working with the ASC label), please describe how it was included. This may include partnerships, collaborative initiatives, or storytelling that helps support the ASC mission and promote responsible aquaculture.

    Points will be awarded for clear evidence of engagement in each of these areas. You are encouraged to attach supporting materials such as internal training content, website screenshots, social media posts, campaign creative, or other assets that feature or reference the ASC label or programme. Judges will be looking for authenticity, clarity, and consistency in how ASC has been represented and communicated across your organisation and external channels.

  • ASC BEST RESPONSIBLE PRODUCT

    The Best ASC Product Award celebrates excellence, innovation, and impact in products that proudly carry the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) label. This award is open to all businesses selling an ASC-labelled product, from retailers and brands to foodservice providers and processors. We’re looking for products that not only taste exceptional but also showcase the values of responsible aquaculture through smart innovation, strong storytelling, and meaningful market impact. Whether it’s a family-friendly fish finger or a gourmet creation for conscious consumers, this award recognises products that demonstrate the very best of what ASC-labelled seafood can offer.
  • Judging Process

    Entrants will submit product name and artwork along with relevant supporting materials. A panel of experienced chefs will prepare and taste each product according to on pack instructions or suggested preparation method and, score the product against ASC criteria.

    This award recognises an outstanding new partner who has recently joined the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) programme. Whether a feed mill, producer, food service company, retailer, trader, or brand, this award celebrates a newcomer that has embraced the ASC mission and demonstrated early leadership, creativity, and commitment in their journey with responsible seafood. This is about more than just being “new” it’s about how you’re making a difference, engaging your audience, and laying the groundwork for a sustainable future.
