Their focus is on clean formulas, natural and/or organic products, and brands that are environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible. Their buyers are particularly interested in proteins and sports nutrition, gummies (low- or no-sugar), mushroom blends (excluding teas and coffee), hydration blends, and digestion support products. Products can be ambient, chilled, or frozen and should be manufactured in a SALSA-certified site as a minimum. For the Beauty and Body Care Department (Whole Body), all products must be ambient, and SALSA certification is not required. Whole Foods Market's quality standards for sourcing and ingredients guide them every day in choosing what to put on their shelves: if a product doesn’t meet their standards, they won’t sell it.
