If your child has already been enrolled and participated in kindergarden, or will be going into grade 1 starting this September, then they are allowed to enroll in camp.

    General Information

The Summer Day Camp is a ten week program which lasts from June 29th up until September 4th where kids aged 6 to 12 will spend each week engaging in a mixture of different activities throughout each day such as:

    • Rock Climbing
    • Swimming
    • Sports (ex. Badminton, Basketball, Pickleball, etc.)
    • Crafts

The Summer Day Camp operates as a drop-off/pick-up program, with doors opening at 7:30am, and closing at 5:30pm.

In the instance where a child is not picked up when doors close at 5:30pm, a counsellor will stay behind and a $10 late fee will be applied for each subsequent hour the child is not picked up with the possibility of further actions being taken if late pickup occurs frequently such as dismissal from attending the program.

Entry to the building is permitted at 7:30am, anyone who comes earlier will not be allowed into the building until that time has been reached, no exceptions.

    Day Camp Behavioural Management System

Below is an outline of the behavioural management system we have in place here at the District of Carleton North Recreation Department to address any potential misbehaviour at our Summer Day Camp program. These measures are necessary to ensure that our Day Camp is a safe, respectful, and fun environment for everyone.

    Daily Strike System:

Our counsellors document these strikes and the reasoning behind them. All strikes reset to 0 daily.

    Strike 1: Warning

Strike 2: 10-minute timeout and the camper writes 3 ways they can make a positive behavioural change.

Strike 3: Missing a fun camp activity (pool, rock wall, etc…)

Strike 4: Call home (Calls home may also be made if there is one serious behavioural incident rather than after strike 4)

    Suspensions:

If a camper has received 4 strikes in one day OR two days of 3 strikes in a single week, a phone call home will be issued. On the following day at camp after this call home, the camper will have the opportunity to demonstrate more constructive behaviour. If they receive any strikes during this day, they will be suspended from the program for the next 2 days that they are scheduled to attend.

After a camper’s first suspension, this system resets. After their second suspension, they are subject to be removed from camp for the summer of 2026.

Behavioural Report Forms will be sent home if a camper requires a phone call home, is suspended, or removed from camp.

    Expulsion from Camp:

If a camper receives 3 strikes in one day or multiple days of strikes following their second suspension, they will be removed from camp for the summer of 2026.

    Other Rules & Regulations:

Electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, personal computers, and handheld consoles are not permitted during camp, and will be kept with campers' belongings for the day if brought with them. If a camper is required to keep an electronic device on them, please indicate in the notes section of the form, or email/call the Rec. Centre prior to arrival.

In instances where lice is found on individuals at camp, those affected will be sent home and must remain home for 3 days or until they will pass our mandatory lice check. Lice checks will remain in place for 3~ days after the first instance of lice, and will happen again to those who were sent home originally upon their first day back to camp.

    What to Bring

    • Lunch & Snacks with enough food to last 2 snack breaks and dinner

    Drop Off/Pick Up

If you are dropping off your child between 9:00am to 4:00pm and nobody is present in the arena section (NCCC), then please head over to the reception desk on the other side of the building so you can be brought to the current destination of camp to proceed with regular drop-in/pick-up protocols.
