• Service Unit Camporee Participant & Activity Form

Service Unit Camporee Participant & Activity Form

  • This form is designed for completion by the official Service Unit Camporee Chairperson to capture all girl, certified volunteer, and adult chaperone participants for one specific Camporee, as well as key planned activities. The Service Unit Camporee Chairperson should be in consistent contact with the Service Unit Manager while finalizing Camporee event plans. The form is requested and preferred 21 days prior to the first date of the Camporee event and is REQUIRED 14 days prior to the first date of the Camporee event. Failure to submit a completed form by the 14-day deadline, which allows staff time to follow all internal safety and risk management procedures, may result in the cancellation of the event without refund to the Service Unit.

Questions about the information required in this form, or the timeline, should be emailed to Kate Goosey: kgoosey@gssef.org.

  • Activities Requiring Trained & Certified Adults

The Service Unit is responsible for ensuring the appropriate number of trained and/or certified adults for each planned activity. GSSEF staff does not provide or coordinate these adults.
  • Here's what you need to know about securing certified/trained adults:

Adults providing oversight, instruction, and safety for Girl Scouts who REQUIRE certifications include Lifeguard, First Aid/CPR (aka "first aider"), ServSafe Food Manager, and Archery instruction.

Verified Girl Scout training is REQUIRED for adults providing oversight, instruction, and safety for slingshots, hatchet throwing, canoeing, and water watching.

    • Archery - 1 certified adult is required for 10 active archers.
      • Note: the certified adult designated for archery may not also be the designated adult for slingshots when both activities occur simultaneously.
    • Slingshots - 1 trained adult is required for 10 active participants.
      • Note: the certified adult designated for slingshots may not also be the designated adult for archery when both activities occur simultaneously.
    • Hatchet Throwing - 1 trained adult is required for this activity.
      • Note: a 1:2 adult-to-girl ratio is required for safety during this activity.
    • Canoeing – 1 certified adult is required for this activity.
      • Note: 1 adult is required to be in the same canoe with Daisy Girl Scouts. We recommend 2-3 knowledgeable adults assist the trained adult.
    • Lifeguard: 1 certified adult lifeguard is required per 25 swimmers.
    • Water Watcher: In addition to lifeguard(s), 1 trained adult water watcher is required for every 10 swimmers.
    • ServSafe Food Manager - 1 certified adult is required for any use of the commercial kitchen. The certified adult is responsible for maintaining the standards of kitchen assistants.
      • Note: the word "use" includes access to refrigerators, freezers, and sinks. We recommend at least 1 assistant for every 50 participants.
