South Georgia Conference 2025-2026
Want to become a Certified Lay Minister in the Global Methodist Church? For our 2025-2026 Training, we will be offering three different tracks for completing the required courses:
- Fall Immersion Cohort
- Spring Immersion Cohort
- Online Cohort that will meet every other Monday night throughout the year starting in the fall and finishing in the spring.
All three cohorts will offer the same five courses: Foundational, Bible, Leadership/Admin, Preaching, and Worship. Additionally, several advanced courses will be offered throughout the year for those needing recertification courses or individual courses to complete their training requirements.

Also please note that completing this form will put you on our roster for CLM training, but we also need 1) your consent for a background check, and 2) your registration fee ($375 for one of the cohorts or $75/course).

A total of Five Courses are required to become a CLM. The Foundational and Bible Courses are required, as well as three Specialized Courses. To foster community and shared development, we will be offering three “cohorts” over the course of 2025-2026 with each cohort having the opportunity to go through Foundational, Bible, and three specialized courses (Leadership, Preaching, and Worship) together.

Online Cohort – Meets via Zoom over a series of Monday evenings starting September 22nd at 7pm. Sessions will be held approximately every other Monday and will run for two hours each.

Fall Immersion Cohort – Meets from 1pm on Thursday, November 6th through 3pm on Sunday, November 9th at Valdosta First Methodist. Participants will be responsible for their own travel and lodging arrangements.

Spring Immersion Cohort – Meets from 1pm on Thursday, March 19th through 3pm on Sunday, March 22nd at TBD in the northeastern part of the South Georgia Conference. Participants will be responsible for their own travel and lodging arrangements.

We will also offer one-day advanced courses for participants who have previously started CLM training and need to complete their requirements, as well as for those who need additional courses for their three-year recertification. Participants in this category can also register for individual courses within the cohorts by special request, provided they have not taken the course previously. The following are advanced courses scheduled for 2025-2026:

Prayer Conference - October 4,2025 at Pine Forest in Dublin (the CLM program will register you for the conference if you select this option)

Advanced Preaching - November 8,2025 at Valdosta First Methodist

Missions - February 7, 2026 - Americus First Methodist

Spiritual Formation - March 21, 2026 Location TBD - Northeastern part of SGAGMC
