  • What kind of forest will you choose?

    Purchase one of this year's selected trees, purchase or plant your own tree, or contribute to a planting on public land! Thank you to the Village of Cumberland for their support!

  • OPTION A. 

    Purchase your own tree/shrub from a local nursery OR grow your own tree from seed (self-funded). Please consider drought tolerance, FireSmart alignment and biodiversity values
  • OPTION B. 

    Purchase one of six carefully selected subsidized trees/shrubs for your yard. These trees have been selected for drought tolerance, FireSmart alignment and habitat and biodiversity values. 
  • Stellar Pink Dogwood - Cornus florida f. rubra. The pink dogwood is notable for the many pastel flowers that it produces each spring for about two to four weeks.  5 Gallon.

    Hazelnut - Corylus avellana. Deciduous shrub/tree, growing 12-20 ft tall x 8-15ft wide making it a perfect tree for shade in a smaller yard. It can be pruned to a desired size making it ideal for natural screens and edible hedges.  5 Gallon.

    Kwanzan Cherry - Prunus 'Kanzan'. Japanese Flowering Cherry is a small, deciduous, showy tree that grows up to 25-30 feet in height and spread. These trees prefer sandy to clay moist well-drained loams in full sun but will tolerate light shade.  10 Gallon.

    Douglas Maple - Acer glabrum. Tall shrub with narrow crown and numerous upward-reaching stems. Leaves are small and deep green in typical maple shape, becoming brilliant orange-red in the fall.  5 Gallon.

    Mock Orange - Philadelphus coronarius. Native, deciduous rounded shrub grows up to 10 meters tall and wide. In spring, abundant clusters of fragrant, cup-shaped flowers bloom.  2 Gallon.

    Saskatoon Berry - Amelanchier alnifolia. A native shrub growing to 5 m tall. It has soft green oval leaves and clusters of delicate white flowers in the spring, followed by delicious purple-black berries in the summer.  5 Gallon.

    Don’t have a place to plant a tree? Renting or living in an apartment or low footprint townhouses? Not a problem. Contribute to a CCFS / Village of Cumberland planting as part of a restoration or urban forest enhancement project on public land or in local conservation areas. ($25-$100)

      Cancellations

      Tree purchases will be non-refundable. Trees that are not picked up will be donated to the CCFS for plant sale purposes.

       

      Refunds

      There are no refunds for FITV trees, even if your planted tree doesn’t survive. We are working with reputable local nurseries and environmental stewardship organizations to ensure you will receive healthy trees. Help your tree thrive by accessing tree care resources on the CCFS website (available September 2025).
